as far as I know I have never been in a stolen car. As far as contaband, part of our service is vacuuming out the car and i have seen just about everything. Mostly weed but I have run across a few 8 balls, pipes, guns rotting kfc...you know the normal stuff. The store I trained at used to play Find the stash and they guy who took the stash (who got fired not long after) would say "hey what are they going to do call the cops?"
Jiffy lube does have a bad rap. I will not deny it. Personaly At my store I will be honest with the guest and I will not offer services that are not needed. I have even told guests that they do not need an oil change yet despite the fact they had the oil changed else where. unfortunately there are stores that will screw people, Do services that dont need to be done and i have seen services not done that they guest has paid for
A few guys come in high to work. No weed is smoked on the job.
My boss knows of reddit hence the account. I think I usually provide a nice atmosphere and no pressure environment. But there are times where I can be a ***.
Non taken. Non of my co-workers are heavy drug users now, just weed and booze.
Not a lot. If I were to get "commissioned" for each car on an average day, I would make about $2 per car. Generally we have 4 guys working on a single car so I'd say less that $10 goes to labor. Speed of service is emphasized in my work so we tend to have a lot of guys working...a good reason to over-charge I guess. Oops forgot the *** part. I don't think a Jiffy Lube could survive selling 19.99 oil changes without doing crazy high volume...most places (mine included) don't get that kind of volume. I bet if the boss wanted to he could sell our oil changes for $10 less and still make a reasonable profit.
I have been guilty of selling a few air filter that didn't need it. I've seen pretty much tell people how I feel about it and let them decide. I try not to pressure people anyway and just be nice. However, it is extremely competitive. If you don't get a good ticket (average $ per car) your hours will be cut. Bonuses are solely dependent on your ticket. There are a few guys who will do anything to make sure there ticket is high enough to get the bonus...lying doesn't seem to bother them. I think I'm a bit more moral than that.
