Job Overview:
We are looking for a skilled assembler to perform a variety of tasks as assigned in conjunction with the assembly of our product. You will ensure all parts fit correctly and are suitable for the final product. This position is responsible for safely performing high-level continuous work to quality standards. Assignments may change based on business demands.
Responsibilities:
* Performs hand-welding operations with close visual attention in the hand/eye coordination process
* Takes care in blocking, clamping, or holding parts in relative position to avoid distortion • Operates welding machine and regulates currant and voltage for proper fusion of metals
* Adjusts wire, feed, power and gas as required
* Operates shears, punch presses, and press brakes to provide assistance as required
* Performs materials handling functions including preparation of inventory transaction
* Maintains quality of products
* Learns to use Statistical Process Control to control the manufacturing process and eliminate waste
* Performs time studies to keep process times correct
* Designs and implements process improvements

Requirements:

Key Responsibilities:
Welding Operations

Quality and Safety
Conduct visual inspections of welds to ensure quality standards are met

Technical Duties
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and welding symbols

Perform routine maintenance on welding equipment
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
Completion of welding program from accredited trade school or equivalent experience
Valid welding certifications (AWS D1.1, ASME IX, or API 1104 preferred)
Current certification in applicable welding positions and processes
Preferred Experience, Skills and Abilities
Minimum 3-5 years of pipe welding experience
Experience with industrial, commercial, or infrastructure projects
Proven track record of producing quality welds that pass inspection

Job Description
Phillips Tank & Structure (PTS) is no ordinary tank construction company. We specialize in the complex and fast-paced environment of tank repair on a nationwide scale. No two tanks are alike, so when they need repair, they often pose unique or complicated technical issues. Our experienced engineering staff are well-versed in API 650, API 653, AWWA D100, AWWA D103, API 12D, and other tank specifications.
We build and repair welded above-ground storage tanks (ASTs), bolted tanks, and related structures. We also inspect, install, and repair tank systems such as aluminum geodesic dome covers, aluminum internal floating roofs (IFRs), IFR mechanical shoe seals, liquid level gauges, fire protection systems, silo support structures, industrial storage tanks, and heating and insulation systems.

Day to Day Duties:
Performing arc and torch cutting and gouging.
Using generators, compressors, tuggers, blowers, grinders, and other power and air tools.
Welding plate with 7018, 7024 and 6010 stick (SMAW), flux core (FCAW), and submerged arc automatic machines (3 o'clock and “goat”/tractor).
Using come-alongs, hydraulic jacks, hoists, air bags, winches, and other lifting equipment.
Using tank shell buggies, tank scaffolding, tank ladders, and other specialty equipment.
Performing vacuum box tests, oil tests, dye penetrant tests, and other non-destructive quality examinations.
Using gas monitors, fresh air kits, respirators, emergency rescue kits, and other safety equipment.
Operating forklifts, man lifts, boom lifts, and other large lifting equipment.
Knowledge of crane operations (including rigging and signaling)
Reading detailed erection and fabrication drawings.
Planning the sequence and methods of fitting up, welding, repairing, and constructing tanks.
Completing job safety analysis, safety audits, site-specific training, and other safety training.
Follow directions and work professionally with other crew members. \
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Have great communication and organization skills.

The willingness to learn.
Be at least 18 years old.
Be able to lift 50 lbs.
Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Be eligible to work in the United States.
Be willing to authorize background checks.
Have no criminal convictions for dishonesty, sexual misconduct, violence, or acts of terrorism.
Have a valid driver's license.
Be willing to authorize motor vehicle driving record checks.
Be willing to submit to pre-hire, random, and post-incident drug and alcohol testing.
Ability to weld is a plus.

Job Responsibilities for Experienced Millwrights, Welders, Fabricators:
Follow instructions from supervisors and/or crew foremen while maintaining all safety standards
Perform various physical duties assigned
Move, secure, install, build, load and/or unload materials, tools and equipment
Welding and fabrication for repairs and install of plant equipment, chutes and crushers
Properly repair and install mechanical parts for equipment
Read schematics and instruction manuals to make equipment repairs if needed
Stick Weld and use Oxy/Act torches safely and efficiently
Use hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently
Clean/prepare job site
Assist skilled tradespeople in their duties
Properly, efficiently and safely apply types of oils and greases according to specification of equipment/job
Job Requirements Experienced Millwrights, Welders, Fabricators:
Must be 18 or older
Ability to routinely climb stairs, ladders and/or platforms, bend and squat
Ability to walk, stand or sit for prolonged periods of time
Ability to consistently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds throughout the shift
Able to work any shifts, including overtime, weekends and holidays required.
Ability to pass background and drug & alcohol testing required.
MSHA Surface and Underground certifications a plus
