Travel-related expenses, including room and board, during the training will be provided. Key Responsibilities: Safety: Follow work processes closely at school and on the shop floor to ensure a safe environment while job shadowing with technical advisor in On-the-Job Learning (OJL). Observe and incorporate safety standards and regulations required for safe operation of the system. Maintenance: Combine electronic, mechanical, computer, and control skills to perform scheduled, predictive, and preventive maintenance to detect and prevent problems. Install, repair, adjust, and test equipment and components to ensure that systems function properly. Work with electronic and physical technical documentation to maintain all material handling equipment (MHE) at the site. Monitoring: Analyzes technical specifications of mechatronic systems, subsystems, modules and components. Support: Learn PLCs and work with Automation Engineers in a laboratory environment. Flexibility in desired work locations is essential for progression through the Lineman Development Program. All candidates must be available to work within a certain distance of their assigned operating headquarters (upon hire). No relocation assistance is available. Summary of Position Duties The UAL-1 will be assisting with the construction of overhead and underground power distribution systems. You will learn construction and maintenance activities associated with our Distribution systems, as well as operating procedures for all equipment involved in the process, including diggers, derricks, cranes, aerial devices, and pulling and tensioning equipment. The ability to work at heights and feel comfortable doing so is critical to work in a bucket truck or manually climbing using spikes and a climbing belt. One of the most important things you will learn during this period is how to safely climb poles. Training: The Unassigned Apprentice Lineman (UAL-1) position was developed as a part of the Lineman Development Program (LDP). The LDP is an extensive training program combining skills training, classroom training, and on-the-job training. Successful completion of 4-5 year LDP program is required in order to become a Journeyman Lineman with Georgia Power. Education and Experience High School diploma or equivalent is strongly preferred. Candidates who have earned the ELAC (Electrical Lineworker Apprentice Certification) through one of the Technical Colleges of Georgia are strongly desired. Candidates must have a basic mechanical and electrical aptitude or background. Minimum of 1 year of work experience in construction, heavy industrial maintenance, utility, military and/or electrical experience is preferred. Experience working outdoors, with heavy equipment/machinery, heavy load rigging/lifting, emergency responders, commercial truck driving, tree trimming, and/or farming is a plus. This is a terrific opportunity to join the Caterpillar North Little Rock AR team as a Welder Apprentice our 2nd shift team earning day ONE benefits and a starting wage of $21.10/hour + Shift Differential Caterpillar - North Little Rock utilizes a variety of welding processes within the facility. We have 15 robotic welding cells and over 30 different weld stations to complete daily builds. As a fabricator the main welding process is 0.052” GMAW (MIG) in the 1G/2G & 1F/2F positions. In addition, GTAW (TIG) and Stud Welding are utilized in some weld stations. Candidates must pass the following Welder Qualification Tests at the completion of a Caterpillar provided 6-Week Weld School and 3 Weeks OJT: 0.052” GMAW - 2F - 8mm - Single Pass 0.052” GMAW - 2F - 10mm - MULTI-PASS 0.052” GMAW - 2G - 12.7mm - MULTI-PASS 0.052” GMAW - 3F - 5mm GTAW 3F-4F Toe dress Pay Rate and Schedule: Position includes a wage of $21.10/hour + Shift Differential on 2nd Shift.and a comprehensive benefit program Openings available on 2nd shift: Monday - Friday, 3 p.m - 11 p.m. Overtime opportunities may be available on a voluntary basis based on business needs and with leader prior authorization Basic Qualifications: Basic Knowledge of Welding Fundamentals Available to work from 7:00AM to 3:00PM during the introductory training period (6-Weeks in Weld School & 3-Weeks OJT) Top Candidates Will Also Have: Welding experience and/or successful completion of a Technical or Trade School Welding Course Ability to Work Safely & Wear Required Personal Protective Equipment Experience utilizing GMAW, GTAW & Carbon Arc Gouging processes Ability to Complete an 8mm - 2F, 10mm - 2F & 25mm - 2G Weld Qualification Test utilizing 0.052” GMAW weld process Ability to Follow Standard Work Instructions Ability to Read Blueprints Ability to Work Overtime to Support Production Demands Physical Requirements Ability to sit, kneel, squat, or stand for prolonged periods Ability to climb, work from and descend ladders/platforms/steps Ability to perform repetitive operations Ability to lift to 35 lbs.
