SUD IOP Counselor
Duties: In this role, you will provide a full range of therapeutic counseling and intervention to youth and adults who present with psychiatric, emotional and behavioral issues. Focus on populations who experience primary SUD or Dual Diagnosis. Provides individual, group and family counseling, assessment, and diagnosis. Collaborates with co-workers, community partners, significant others, and other persons and ensures coordination of services.

Our Location: Our administrative offices are located at 65 Messimer Drive in Newark, Ohio, a short 30-minute scenic commute from Columbus, Zanesville, Lancaster, and Mount Vernon.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Employees are expected to perform essential duties to performance standards. Provides individual, group, family counseling, and aftercare services to clients from a Recovery/Resiliency focused philosophy utilizing a Solution Focused Therapy approach, and Evidenced Based Practice treatment modalities.
Conducts intake assessments for IOP clients and the residential SUD facilities and develops treatment recommendations. Considers the client's physical health needs in conjunction with behavioral health issues.
May provide telehealth services.
Develops client directed goals and formation of an Individual Service Plan (ISP) to achieve goals. Utilizes the ISP to guide each session and updates ISP's in accordance with BHP and regulatory body standards. Engages family members and significant others, as identified by client, in treatment planning, support and execution of the ISP.
Works closely with other professionals, both internally and externally, for case planning and to promote collaboration and coordination of services. Makes referrals to link clients to community resources and services and monitors and follows-up on referrals to ensure client receives needed services.
Participates in treatment planning with family, other treatment providers and community partners to establish a transition plan for clients.
Provides crisis intervention services as needed.
Demonstrates through job performance a thorough knowledge of duty-to-warn and duty-to-protect regulations, mandatory reporting, BHP policy and a working knowledge of Ohio laws that relate to social workers and counselors.
Completes BHP required documentation.
Completes progress notes and maintains clinical record for each client in accordance with Quality Improvement standards. Completes concurrent documentation whenever feasible
Participates in individual, group supervision and clinical team meetings evaluating client progress, services, and updating treatment recommendations, utilization management and quality improvement.
Provides CDCA clinical supervision as needed for SUD staff at the residential facilities.
Maintains contact with other community professionals regarding client's progress, treatment recommendations and ongoing planning.
Advocates for clients as appropriate.
Testifies in court as required by court orders, subpoenas and BHP policy.
Adheres to the code of ethics established for counselors, social workers, marriage and family therapist, chemical dependency counselors and BHP code of ethics.
Complies with Federal, State and local confidentiality and mandated reporting laws.
Maintains confidentiality of HIPAA and other confidential and sensitive information.
Maintains the highest level of integrity and professionalism in all aspects of job performance.
Keeps abreast of current trends and “best practices” in the field. Attends and participates in required trainings on topics relevant to the job and to behavioral healthcare.
Performs job responsibilities and maintains all records in accordance with BHP's policy, procedure and protocol, and as appropriate to the job, all regulatory authorities' accreditation/licensure/certification standards, and all applicable laws and regulations.
Works assigned schedule, exhibits regular and punctual attendance and works outside of normal schedule as required.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
Networks and promotes BHP in the community, and participates in community collaborations.
Participates in inter-agency or external committees or tasks force as assigned.
Participates in clinical records review.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Candidates must possess strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to collaborate with other service providers. Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or Counseling with one to three years of therapy experience working with SMD population. Independent licensure preferred. Licensed Social Worker (LSW), or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with a scope in SUD counseling is required. Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), or Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor (LICDC) preferred. Basic computer, phone and typing skills are necessary for all positions.

The Assignment Ready Counselor (ARC) will provide coverage in short-term, surge and on demand situations resulting from the Military needs such as a post-deployment event or to cover an existing assignment for counselors who are absent. With minimal guidance and oversight, provides the full breadth of Adult or Child and Youth Behavioral (CYB) counseling services to military service members and their families at military installations. These services may include non- medical counseling, training/health and wellness presentations, consultation with parents, personnel at child daycare centers and schools, and consultation to installation command regarding behavioral health issues affecting military personnel and their family members. ARC CYB counselors may be assigned to DoDEA schools and community schools and will need to have experience working in a school setting to qualify for ARC role in backing up a school position. CYB counselors may also be assigned to youth programs, summer camps, and on demand assignments. ARC adult counselors may be assigned to support MFLC services in a variety of military community and readiness centers, as well as on-demand and surge assignments. The counselors work closely with the installation and military branch Points of Contact (POC) to assure that the program is provided within scope and meets the needs of the installation.
Provides non-medical, short term, solution focused, counseling directly to adults, children, and youth of service members. Services include assessment, brief counseling and consultation, action planning, referral to resources (assuring linkage as appropriate), and follow-up as indicated.
CYB counselors will also have a focus on supporting the staff and personnel of CDCs, DoDEA and community schools, youth programs and summer camps as well as providing parent training and guidance.
Provides training and health and wellness presentations, participate in health fairs and other base/installation activities.
Enters counselor activity data daily through smart phone or web application assure that reporting is accurate from assigned installation while maintaining confidentiality and anonymity of service / family member.

GENERAL FUNCTION:The PRN SUD Counselor is a part-time counselor that fills in to assist with covering groups in the Intensive Outpatient Program and the Continuing Recovery program. This person also provides back-up case management and crisis intervention to the full-time Case Counselors, assist the Quality Assurance team with clinical record reviews, and assist resident monitors with rule enforcement and medication monitoring.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Provide secondary case management and crisis intervention services to program participants. Facilitate Outpatient Group Counseling and Intensive Outpatient Group Counseling. Record all service activities by entering progress notes in the Y-Haven Electronic Medical Record. Participate in team meetings, quality assurance meetings, in-service trainings and Coordination meetings as needed. Coordinate with Clinical Director on all critical clinical issues. Responsible for following the child abuse and neglect reporting process including completion of Suspected Child Abuse/Neglect reporting form, calling children protective services (696-Kids) and notifying your immediate Supervisor, Branch Executive, Risk Management and Human Resources Department (s). All employees of the YMCA of Greater Cleveland are mandated reporters for any signs or suspicion of child abuse and neglect.
Administrative: Maintain accurate and thorough records for all clients seeking admission in the AWARDS electronic health record. Assist in supplying data for and creating Y-Haven service reports.
Program: Facilitate addiction therapy groups on a limited, as needed basis. Monitor medication self-administration for residents on a limited, as needed basis. Provide direct reimbursable clinical services 50% of each workday. Be visibly involved w/ clients, volunteers and staff in a positive, friendly manner that communicates and demonstrates the YMCA's core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Follow all established policies and procedures, including but not limited to, safety practices and personnel policies. Participate in and support association events and fund raising activities. Maintain a clean and orderly work environment. Secure required trainings and/or certifications necessary for the position.

QUALIFICATIONS:Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Social Work or related field required. Extensive knowledge of issues affecting the homeless population, chemical dependency and mental illness is necessary. Preferences: 3+ years' experience in social service field, successful experience in intake, screening and assessment.
Professional Certification(s): LCDCIII, LPC or LSW Required CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse Prevention training within 30 days of hire date.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and actively listen to clients, staff, and volunteers. Ability to sit, stand, walk, reach, stoop, kneel and bend for long periods. Ability to lift and/or move up to 25lbs. Ability to work in a moderate to noisy work environment.

Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Counseling, Social Work, or related field (LSW, LPC, LISW, LPCC, required)
Competency or training in mental health, substance use disorder treatment, and co-occurring disorders
