What You Will Be Doing
Compute cost factors and prepare estimates used for management purposes, preparing bids, qualifying vendors and subcontractors, and determining cost effectiveness.
Manage, oversee and perform all take-off and quantity surveys per company standardized procedures.
Solicit subcontractor, and material/equipment quotes from company approved vendors in a strategic manner all the while optimizing our strategic objectives and competitive results.
Attend pre-bid job meetings and site surveys when required.
Prepare bid summary ensuring the computed bid price includes all correct factors as approved by Chief Estimator.
Organize, manage and coordinate the activities of bid day to ensure that we execute the submission in a strategic manner to give ourselves the best chance for success.
Execute bid activities in concert with company and department SOPs. Prepare and submit scope letters, bid forms and other bid submissions accurately and in a timely manner.
Spread and qualify subcontract bids and material quotations per company procedures ensuring the low responsive quotation is utilized.
Generate RFIs when appropriate prior to bidding and send to appropriate entity.
Conduct special studies to develop and analyze new material and installation procedures and related cost data to determine the effect of possible cost reductions.
Participate in Pre-Construction meetings of estimating personnel to discuss department objectives and goals.
Perform peer bid reviews and analyze completed jobcost information to improve estimating methods and procedures.
Understand the need and manage or assist Project Management in estimating change orders or other project needs as related to pre-construction functions.
Assist in the training, guidance, and mentorship of entry level and junior staff.
Work independently or with a team when needed to complete estimates and proposals in a timely and efficient manner.

You'll work closely with project managers, engineers, and leadership turning project details into real numbers that reflect how we actually build the work.
Your Role Includes:
Reviewing project specs, drawings, and contract documents to determine scope and key risks
Visiting project sites to gather first-hand intel and identify constructability factors
Quantifying materials, labour, equipment, and production rates with precision
Sourcing and evaluating subcontractor and supplier pricing to strengthen your numbers
Leveraging historical data, internal rates, and market trends to support bid strategy
Preparing detailed takeoffs and estimate breakdowns across all major civil scopes
Building bid summaries, risk registers, and backup packages for internal reviews
Participating in bid strategy sessions and handover meetings
Continuously improving our estimate database and cost history tracking
Who You Are
You're a builder at heart, but your strength is in preconstruction. You understand scopes like earthworks, roadbuilding, underground utilities, and environmental work, and you know how to price them with accuracy and foresight. You're not afraid to get into the details, ask questions, and hold the line on what it takes to execute the work properly.
You have:
3+ years of experience estimating civil construction projects
Strong understanding of scopes including excavation, utilities, roadworks, bridges, and reclamation. Various State, Federal, Municipal standards and specifications.
Proficiency in takeoff software, Excel, and estimating platforms
A sharp eye for constructability, logistics, and schedule implications
A collaborative mindset - but the independence to drive your own process
Knowledge of general construction safety, current federal and OSHA requirements
Even better if:
You've worked in both bid-build and design-build environments
You've contributed to successful proposals or pursuit strategies
You have a degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field

Job Purpose
Drive the development of accurate and timely costestimates and quotations for equipment and tooling investments, supporting strategic decision-making and project success across Production Engineering.
Key Accountabilities
Lead costestimation efforts for assigned projects by clarifying scope, interpreting maker layouts, and delivering detailed investment cost reports and quotations.

Position Overview
The Manufacturing CostEstimator / Manufacturing Engineer will play a key role in evaluating customer prints, building cost models, developing routing strategies, and supporting process planning for new and existing products. This position interacts closely with engineering, tooling, operations, and sales while helping ensure competitive and accurate estimates for stampings, fabricated components, and machined parts.
This role is ideal for someone with experience in metal stamping, fabrication, machining, or tooling who enjoys both technical analysis and hands-on engagement within manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
Review customer prints, models, specifications, and requirements to create accurate costestimates and routings
Build cost models for metal stampings, welded assemblies, laser-cut parts, and machined components
Determine material utilization, nesting strategies, tonnage requirements, and scrap factors
Analyze cycle times, setup times, labor content, tooling needs, and machine utilization
Collaborate with tool and die makers, process engineers, and operations leadership to validate assumptions
Support the development of process plans, routings, and standard work documentation
Participate in design-for-manufacturability reviews and recommend cost-efficient alternatives
Maintain costing standards and improve quoting accuracy over time
Support APQP, PPAP, and new product introduction activities
Engage with leadership on key programs and customer opportunities
What You Bring
Experience in manufacturing engineering, costestimating, tool and die, stamping, fabrication, or machining
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, 2D/3D drawings, and customer specifications
