  • APEX Developer (part-time)

    Tricom Technical Services 4.5company rating

Job counselor job in Liberty, WI

This role will focus on a legacy APEX-based capital expenditure (AFE) approval and tracking application originally built in the early 2000s and backed by Oracle. This is a highly technical, part-time consulting engagement where you will work independently, dig into a heavily deprecated environment, and serve as the subject-matter expert who bridges a legacy Oracle APEX solution with a modern workflow platform. You will act as a senior consulting-level resource. Responsibilities * Partner with finance and asset management stakeholders to clarify how the current system is used (growth, maintenance, and corporate paths) and translate those needs into clear technical documentation. * Analyze and interpret existing APEX code and Oracle stored procedures to uncover and document the business and routing logic that drives AFE approvals, tracking, and reporting. * Review and interpret Oracle stored procedures and database structures that support the current AFE solution, documenting how data and workflows are handled. * Assess whether any components of the current solution can be stabilized or partially restored to reduce manual work and risk while the long-term replacement is being built. * Translate the discovered logic into clear technical and functional documentation that can be consumed by internal Laserfiche and Boomi teams for a full workflow reimplementation. * Assess the feasibility of stabilizing or partially restoring key functionality in the current APEX application to reduce manual effort during the transition period. * Provide expert guidance to internal Laserfiche and integration (Boomi/Control-M) teams on integration touchpoints previously handled via BizTalk and advise on how those could be transitioned to existing middleware (Boomi, Control-M, etc.), without owning the integration development itself. * Provide guidance on how to replicate or improve existing logic and automation in modern platforms. * Partner closely with finance/asset management stakeholders and internal IT (database, integrations, Laserfiche) to validate findings, clarify requirements, and ensure the new design accurately replicates or improves current behavior. * Recommend options and best practices for decommissioning the legacy stack safely while minimizing business disruption and security risk. * Work independently on discovery and analysis activities, providing concise progress updates and findings to the application and business leadership teams. Requirements * Experience working in-depth with legacy APEX-based applications (pre-Salesforce) and related business logic. * Hands-on experience with Oracle Database including reading and interpreting complex PL/SQL stored procedures. * Proven ability to reverse-engineer existing applications to document logic flows, decision trees, and integration points. * Ability to translate technical logic into clear, business-friendly explanations and documentation for functional teams. * Familiarity with integration/middleware concepts and tools (e.g., BizTalk, Boomi, Control-M or similar), and how applications leverage them for workflows and email automation. * Experience collaborating with business stakeholders and internal developers to guide re-architecture or migration efforts. * Comfortable working in a consulting/advisory capacity with limited hours per week over an extended period. This is an 11-month Contract opportunity with our Kansas City, MO client. 100% Paid employee Medical/Dental Benefits, Paid time off, Paid Holidays, and 401(k) (with immediately vested company match) available with TriCom during the contract period. H1-B Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. No third-parties, please.
