Position Summary: The Compliance Counsel will play a critical role in supporting the legal and regulatory integrity of the company's U.S. operations. The role will focus on monitoring and analyzing legislative and regulatory developments, supporting trade compliance and tariff management, and advising internal stakeholders on compliance risks and best practices. This attorney will serve as a resource to the legal and business teams and will be expected to collaborate cross-functionally with operations, logistics, supply chain, government affairs, and global compliance teams. This is not a lobbying role; however, the successful candidate must be highly attuned to evolving legal landscapes, especially in the areas of import/export controls, trade regulations, industrial policy, environmental law, and energy regulation. Key Responsibilities: Regulatory and Legislative Monitoring Track, analyze, and summarize relevant federal and state legislative and regulatory developments affecting the battery manufacturing, EV, and energy storage sectors. Prepare regular updates and risk assessments for internal stakeholders, including the Head of Legal, U.S., and business unit leaders. Collaborate with government affairs and external advisors to ensure accurate monitoring and understanding of evolving U.S. regulatory priorities (e.g., DOE, EPA, DOT, FERC, CFIUS, USITC, CBP, USTR). Trade Compliance and Tariff Management Advise on U.S. import/export laws and regulations, including compliance with: Export Administration Regulations (EAR) International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) Customs regulations administered by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Tariff classification and country-of-origin rules Monitor and interpret trade remedies and actions such as Section 301 tariffs, AD/CVD duties, and Section 232 measures. Provide legal support for the preparation and maintenance of product classifications, license applications, voluntary disclosures, and corrective actions as needed. Support the company's participation in the U.S. regulatory processes related to tariffs, including exclusion requests and enforcement proceedings. Compliance Program Development Assist in developing, implementing, and refining the company's U.S. compliance policies and procedures in alignment with global compliance standards and U.S. legal requirements. Conduct internal training and awareness programs on relevant compliance topics, such as anti-corruption, sanctions, supply chain transparency, and trade compliance. Partner with internal audit and other functions to conduct periodic compliance reviews and investigations. Monitor and advise on antitrust and competition law issues, including pricing practices, distribution arrangements, joint ventures, and interactions with competitors, to ensure compliance with U.S. federal and state antitrust laws (e.g., Sherman Act, Clayton Act, FTC Act). Provide training and guidance to business units to mitigate antitrust risks. Cross-Functional Legal Support Serve as a legal advisor to cross-functional teams on compliance-related issues that intersect with commercial agreements, procurement, operations, logistics, and regulatory filings. Collaborate with external legal counsel and advisors on complex trade or regulatory matters. Work with global colleagues to harmonize compliance practices and ensure consistent interpretation of global regulatory obligations. Qualifications: Education and Licensure Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school. Active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar (with ability to qualify under Michigan in-house counsel rules). Professional Experience Minimum 5 years of experience practicing law, including at least 3 years of in-house or law firm experience with a focus on compliance, trade law, or regulatory law. Prior experience advising manufacturing clients or clients in the energy or automotive sectors is strongly preferred. Strong working knowledge of U.S. trade laws, customs procedures, and industrial policy instruments (e.g., Inflation Reduction Act, CHIPS Act, Buy American Act). Experience advising clients on compliance with export control regulations and sanctions laws. Skills and Attributes Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate complex legal requirements into clear guidance. Proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Able to work independently and as part of a collaborative, international legal team. High ethical standards and commitment to compliance integrity. Preferred Qualifications: Mandarin Chinese language skills (written and/or spoken) are a plus but not required. Familiarity with legal frameworks related to sustainability disclosures, ESG regulations, or responsible sourcing standards. Demonstrated experience and successes supporting companies undergoing rapid growth or regulatory transformation. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Assessment and Evaluation - Administer screening tools e.g. Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD-7), Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9), Mood Disorder Questionnaire (MDQ-7), Clinical Opiate Withdrawal Scale (COWS), etc. - Complete Biopsychosocial History, client centered Individual Plan of Services (IPOS) inclusive of Strength Needs Abilities and Preferences (SNAP) to ensure authorization of services, and American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) in support of treatment. - Routinely monitor and document client progress in treatment e.g., making adjustments to IPOS as needed and referral source reports e.g. Probation Progress Report. - Assess readiness for change to inform CRSP changes, level of care, and discharge planning. • Individual and Group Counseling - Provide individual counseling sessions with clients, utilizing evidence-based therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). - Facilitate group therapy sessions, addressing topics such as relapse prevention, coping strategies, anger management, and family dynamics. - Lead psychoeducational groups on substance use, addiction recovery, and mental health awareness. - Collaborate with clients, their families, and other professionals to develop and implement holistic care strategies. - Provide family counseling sessions as necessary and aligned to IPOS. - Provide crisis intervention and support as necessary, to include the development of Crisis Plans. • Case Management - Complete Case Management Needs Assessment and continually monitor for updates to services to be provided, linked, referred, monitored, etc. - Collaborate with clients, their families, and other professionals to develop and implement holistic care strategies. - Participates as an active, cooperative, and collaborative member of a multi-disciplinary treatment team. • Documentation and Reporting - Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation and other required paperwork within the Electronic Health Record. - Ensure compliance with organizational policies, legal requirements, and ethical standards for confidentiality and record keeping. - Complete periodic progress reports for internal and external stakeholders. • Collaboration and Teamwork - Work closely with other counselors, social workers, medical staff, family members, and stakeholders to ensure comprehensive care. - Participate in case review meetings, team discussions, and supervision to ensure high- quality client care. - Provide backfill support and coverage as determined by program needs e.g. including some evenings, weekends, and holidays. - Participates in scheduled in-services and other appropriate training activities to ensure consistent adherence to all training requirements of the agency, for credentialing, and/or licensure - Performs other duties as related to direct service activity. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS - EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE • Work experience in the health, human services, or behavioral sciences field, or current enrollment toward a degree in these fields. • Preferred one year of Substance Use Disorder treatment experience. • Documented successful completion and/or development plan of the Certified Alcohol Drug Counselor (CADC) or Certified Alcohol Advance Drug Counselor (CAADC) offered by the Michigan Certification Board of Addiction Professionals within 30 days of date of employment and continuously maintained CADC or CAADC credentialing or development plan. • Must possess a B.A. degree (from an institution accredited by one of the Regional Institutional Accrediting Agencies recognized by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation and listed by the U.S. Government Office of Postsecondary Education) in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or Human Services, • If recovering, shall have at least (3) years of consistent, verifiable sobriety immediately prior to application.     Job Description Alternatives For Girls' Housing Stability team is seeking a Counselor to add to the Dr. Maya Angelou Village (DMAV). DMAV is a permanent supportive housing facility located in Detroit, equipped with resources and amenities including counseling services. Job Summary: The Counselor supports AFG's mission and the goal to deliver intensive therapeutic counseling for individuals, families, and groups as requested by the residents at the Dr. Maya Angelou Village (DMAV) apartments. Key Responsibilities: • Flexible schedule to screen, clinically assess, and process referrals for participant intake. • Assess participants' clinical/psychosocial needs and develop/write individual treatment plans. • Maintain a caseload of at least 25 participants. •Provide crisis intervention and referrals for additional/specialty mental health services. • Provide individual, family, and group counseling per participants' needs. • Facilitate therapeutic groups that meet the specific needs of program participants if needed. • Participate in case conferences as requested to moderate and ensure participant progress. • Maintain accurate and complete treatment files to document dates and services provided. • Complete HMIS documentation as needed. • Prepare monthly reports that document clinical intervention with program participants. Complete progress evaluations, discharge summaries, and letters to referral sources as needed. Demonstrated Abilities: • Demonstrates strong communication and teamwork skills to support seamless case coordination. • Good decision-making, conflict-resolution, and practical listening skills. • Good communication skills, diplomacy, and tact. • Ability to work autonomously while providing services to enhance participant mental health. • Ability to set priorities, take initiative, and meet deadlines. • Ability to handle crises, cope with job stress, and maintain confidentiality. • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, nights, and weekends. Acquired Knowledge: • A master's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, sociology, criminal justice, or human behavioral science is required. • At a minimum, a State of Michigan Limited License in clinical work is required to practice. • At least 3 years of experience working with youth and adults who have experienced trauma, including that from homelessness, dating/domestic violence, human trafficking, or are involved in high-risk activities, such as gangs, violence, drugs, sexual activity, etc., is preferred. • A minimum of 3 years of clinical experience is strongly preferred. • Familiarity with the Detroit community and its resources is strongly preferred. • Must possess a current driver's license, good driving record, and reliable transportation.
