COMPENSATION
This is a non-exempt hourly position with a salary range of $17.25-18.50/hour commensurate with experience. This is a 40-hour a week position May-August. The benefits for seasonal and temporary employees currently include a 403b retirement plan with generous company match, sick leave and more.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
* Provide legal advice related to land acquisition, land use, entitlement, zoning, and development, including reviewing and drafting contracts, title and land development documents, and other related documents; working with the title company, municipalities, and special districts; handling closings; consulting with and coordinating with outside counsel
* Review and revise homebuyer contract documents; advise regarding RESPA issues, FHA/VA compliance and other home sale issues
* Review and revise homeowner association documents and provide advice on homeowner association issues. Review marketing contract and programs; draft documentation as necessary

Collaboration is also a critical aspect of this role, as the individual will work closely with internal teams, such as finance, legal, and business units, to provide tax guidance, while also engaging with external advisors like law and accounting firms to address complex tax matters. Furthermore, they will act as a subject-matter-expert, offering training and education on federal, state, and international tax issues to internal stakeholders as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
Admission to a state bar in good standing.
A minimum of 7 years of experience in federal, state, and international tax matters, with a focus on controversy, planning, and M&A transactions.
Strong knowledge of federal, state, and international tax laws, regulations, and procedures.
Experience in handling federal, state, and international tax audits, appeals, and litigation.
Proven ability to provide strategic tax planning advice in a business context.
Expertise in analyzing and structuring M&A transactions, including cross-border deals, from a tax perspective.
Exceptional legal research, writing, and communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
LL.M. in Taxation or equivalent advanced degree.
Experience working in a law firm, Big Four accounting firm, or corporate tax department.
Familiarity with transfer pricing, BEPS (Base Erosion and Profit Shifting), and other international tax frameworks.
Experience advising state and local tax (SALT) issues, including nexus, apportionment, and sales/use tax matters.
Experience with government contractors and federal investment tax credits.
Graduate from a top 25 U.S. law school.
