Advises company on pending regulatory proceedings and filings and the impacts of such proceedings or filings on the company; maintain high level of familiarity with existing energy regulatory requirements, as well as policy and regulatory developments.
Manages or participates in handling pending or threatened administrative litigation or disputes, including litigation strategy, drafting and submission of pleadings, discovery, oral arguments, settlement negotiations and other litigation activities.
Analyzes and reviews statutes, regulations, orders, case law and other precedent or rules and advise company personnel on substance and impact on the company related to such issuances.
Analyzes and reviews proposed legislation or draft proposed regulations and assess impact on the company; assists company personnel with the preparation of draft legislation or draft regulations.
Conducts legal research and analysis of statutes, case law, agency orders and other precedent as necessary; counsels company employees/leaders on legal matters through verbal and written communications.
Manages outside counsel and other vendors retained to assist on Legal Department matters.
REQUIREMENTS
Juris Doctor from an American Bar Association accredited law school or relevant, equivalent experience and/or education.
Licensed to practice law in Iowa, Michigan or the District of Columbia depending on work location.
Must be able to practice in state and federal courts.
Minimum of six (6) years' experience as a practicing attorney.
Four (4) years' experience with government agency regulations, agency regulatory processes and administrative litigation; such experience in the utility industry or before state public utility commissions preferred.
Knowledge of utility industry preferred.
Ability to work independently in area of responsibility and manage projects.
Ability to effectively conduct research of legal precedent and other information related to performance of job duties.
Possess sound analytical problem-solving, decision-making and documentation skills.

The University of Iowa's Addiction and Recovery Collaborative (UI ARC) in the Department of Psychiatry is looking for an experienced Case Manager for their Medication for Addiction Treatment (MAT) clinic. This position will provide a full range of case management services to promote and fulfill responsibilities for our grant-funded projects and expanded addiction services. This includes recruiting and enrolling eligible patients into grand funded projects and providing case management and recovery support services to our patients. This person serves as a liaison with project participants, faculty, staff, and collaborators. Candidates must be highly self-motivated and self -directed, detail oriented, and have the ability to work with patients with substance use disorders. This position works as part of the UI ARC interdisciplinary team, within The University of Iowa Health Care Department of Psychiatry and funded by a variety of state and federal grants.
This position will be based at the University of Iowa Health Care Main Campus. Some travel is required.
This position is primarily 1st shift, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday. Hybrid work is an option.
Position Responsibilities:
• Function as a member of an interdisciplinary team that provides addiction treatment, clinical and grant-funded services, resources, and support to people who have a substance use disorder and are receiving medication for addiction treatment (MAT),
• Identify and recruit eligible MAT patients and serve as Case Manager for participants enrolled in grant-funded projects; target number of patients to be determined based on grant objectives and in conjunction with supervisor
• Assist patients and project participants to establish or continue treatment for substance use disorders.
• Enroll participants into grant-funded projects, including obtaining informed consent and completing intake, monthly check-ins, and follow-up documentation and interviews.
• Administer electronic, web-based, and paper questionnaires to participants.
• Comply with grant funding documentation guidelines and requirements.
• Ensure that questionnaire data and required documentation are entered into the electronic project database (REDCap) and participant files. Maintain documentation and progress notes within specified timelines.
• Assist in the maintenance of the REDCap database. Keep data, including symptom scores, other health outcome variables, and other demographic information updated.
• Provide participants with education about symptoms and treatment related to opioid use disorder, stimulant use disorder and addiction, including treatment goals, prevention, and naloxone access and use.
• Assist MAT providers with treatment and recovery planning related to substance use disorder and addiction, including knowledge of local behavioral health and substance use disorder treatment resources.
• Follow up with participants regularly and in between clinic appointments to assess recovery plan implementation, barriers to recovery, and assist with problem solving to reduce barriers to accessing resources and maintaining desired path to recovery.
• Use telephone, texting, and/or Electronic Medical Records (EMR) patient portal to document encounters and maintain communication with patients after clinic visits, to assess and encourage treatment plan implementation, monitor symptom response, and assess recovery support service needs. Program retention and engagement are priorities.
• Assist participants and MAT patients to access recovery support services and provide information and referrals about resources, including but not limited to counseling, support groups, peer support, and primary and specialty care.
• Make and facilitate referrals to other behavioral health or social service providers when clinically indicated or when patients do not meet treatment goals despite regular care.
• Monitor tracked outcomes for participants, including screening for common co-morbidities including HIV, hepatitis C. Refer participants for HIV/Hepatitis testing.
• Use EMR tools to identify participants who are not improving, not engaging in primary or behavioral health care, or not meeting recovery goals.
• Assist patients/participants to set patient-centered recovery goals, and work with patients/participants to monitor progress toward recovery goals.
• Attend weekly staff meetings to provide updates about participants to supervisor and other members of the team.
