What Is the Opportunity?

What Will You Do?

The position is in the Commercial Litigation Unit of the Litigation Section. The attorney in this position will be responsible for handling a broad range of litigation and pre-litigation matters relating to MetLife's role as an insurer, an investor with a substantial portfolio of securities, private equity, real estate, and agricultural investments, and an issuer of securities. The attorney may also handle individual life and individual disability claims matters and provide pre-litigation and litigation advice to several key business areas including Retirement & Income Solutions and US Business.

The candidate must be able to provide excellent legal advice and representation, have demonstrated a high degree of discretion and judgment, have the intellectual curiosity to keep abreast of the changing legal climate on issues relevant to a global provider of income and protection products and services, and have a strong commitment to personal growth and demonstrating leadership. Experience in some or all of the following litigation areas strongly preferred in addition to extensive e-discovery experience: securities, class actions, retail sales practices, individual life and disability claims, real estate and investments litigation, cyber-security and privacy.


Key Responsibilities:



Responsible for advising internal business clients with respect to risks presented by actual and threatened litigation, managing and resolving those risks, identifying opportunities to improve processes and business practices which will mitigate risk and better protect the Company, and developing and presenting related training.
