This individual will be responsible for conducting initial assessments, evidence-based brief- and long-term individual psychotherapy, crisis intervention, clinical consultation, mental health educational programming, and individual- and team-related mental performance interventions with PSPs clientele. Similar responsibilities will be required for 600+ varsity student-athletes, 21 varsity teams, coaches, administrators, and support staff within Gopher Athletics as a member of a 4-person Sport Psych team. The individual will collaborate with 20+ in-house sport psychology professionals at PSP, and design/deliver workshops, presentations and group sessions for teams, coaches, and staff both locally and around the country. This individual will be a point person for mental performance teamwork services for a select number of teams at the university (e.g. 2-3 teams) and expected to work closely as a member of a multidisciplinary medical team comprised of team physicians, orthopedic surgeons, PTs, psychiatrists, certified athletic trainers and sport dietitians. The individual will provide team consultation as needed and facilitate outreach about psychological skills that enhance well-being and performance. The individual will build and nurture strong relationships with clients and referral sources at PSP and in the university environment, as well as maintain timely clinical records of therapeutic and other client contact and adhere to both Minnesota and federal laws.
Premier Sport Psychology is currently seeking qualified candidates with demonstrated experience and expertise serving youth and young adult athletes, as well as collegiate student-athletes, who come from a wide range of different backgrounds. This position requires frequent evening hours and occasional weekend duties, in order to best meet the needs of youth athletes ages 8 17yo and the requests of collegiate athletic departments. Sport psychology staff also frequently attend home competitions and other outreach events on evenings and weekends.
Competencies:

Job counselor job in Northfield, MN
Counselor. Department: Counseling Center. Classification: Exempt. FTE: 0.75 Work Schedule: September 1 - May 31, with occasional exceptions; the position will be on vacation during student breaks. 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday; this position is expected to take emergency calls and participate in occasional evening/weekend activities.
Work Location: This position is expected to be on-site and provide in-person services.
Salary Range: $51,000 - $58,000
Position Overview:
To provide mental health services to our students, actively engage in developing and implementing internal and outreach programming and collaborate with campus and community partners.
Essential Job Duties:
Provide individual, couples and group counseling using a short-term therapy model - 60% of time.
Intakes.
Assessments/evaluations.
Counseling sessions.
Referrals.
Aftercare planning.
Crisis management.
Drop-in consultations.
Implement case management responsibilities, with accurate timely record keeping - 15% of time.

Supervision Received and Exercised:
Reports to the Director of the Counseling Center.
This position supervises staff employees.
Required Qualifications:
Education: Master's degree in clinical/counseling psychology, social work, or related clinical Field; eligibility licensure to practice in MN within one year of start date.
Experience: 1+ years of post-graduate clinical experience; successful record of providing clinical services to a young adult population.
Preferred Qualifications:
Education:
Terminal degree in counseling/clinical psychology, social work, or related clinical field; currently licensed in MN as a psychologist, counselor, social worker, or has related clinical licensure OR eligibility for licensure to practice in MN by start date.
Experience:
3+ years of post-graduate clinical experience.
Previous college counseling experience.
Prior experience in developing and implementing educational programming and/or group programming.
Interest and ability to provide individual supervision to practicum graduate students from Masters, Doctoral, or Social Work graduate programs.
Crisis assessment and intervention skills and experience.
Specialized training in treatment of eating disorders and/or substance use disorders.
Prerequisites:

The BA Counselor/ARMHS provider will provide client services including care coordination, referrals, functional assessment, and service delivery (i.e., social and emotional support and teaching of skills essential for everyday living). Has at least 6,000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of services to persons with mental illness OR
Is a graduate student in one of the behavioral sciences or related fields and is formally assigned by an accredited college or university to an agency or facility for clinical training OR
Holds a master's or other graduate degree in one of the behavioral sciences or related fields from an accredited college or university and has less than 4,000 hours post-master's experience in the treatment of mental illness.
