Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) is a department within Student Affairs & Strategic Enrollment Management that provides a variety of culturally responsive services to help enrolled students understand themselves, enjoy satisfying relationships, achieve academic success, and make effective life choices. CAPS promotes the development of holistic student emotional health and serves the campus through advocacy and the provision of confidential, accessible services. Additionally, CAPS provides outreach, educational services, and campus consultations.
This position supports the mission of Counseling & Psychological Services and Campus Health & Wellbeing through the provision of individual, couples, and group counseling, crisis intervention, outreach, consultation, and prevention education as a member of the CAPS team within Campus Health & Wellbeing located at the Solano Campus primarily serving Cal Poly Maritime Academy students. It also includes crisis intervention and work with serious presenting concerns, requiring the ability to conceptualize cases and provide diagnoses within sociocultural context.
This position is in person, time-limited, and part time. The position will start in January 2026 and end on or before May 1, 2026. Work hours will be between 15 and 19 hours per week on a set schedule primarily between 8 am and 7 pm, as negotiated with the Director of CAPS.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrated competence with diversity and intersectionality, and experience addressing the mental health needs of students including those with historically marginalized identities.
Demonstrated knowledge of FERPA, HIPAA, and the California Medical Information Act as it relates to the provision of psychotherapy in a university counseling center and confidentiality.
Demonstrated ability to speak publicly, provide training to, and consult with the campus community regarding mental health topics.
Demonstrated experience providing brief individual and group psychotherapy to late adolescent and young adult populations including DSM diagnosis.
Demonstrated ability to effectively manage clinical crisis situations, including hospitalizations.
Ability to initiate, establish, and foster communication and teamwork by maintaining a positive, cooperative, productive work atmosphere in and outside the University with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within a diverse population and with those from various cultural backgrounds.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from an APA Accredited/BBS-approved graduate training program.
Training and experience in college counseling center.
Experience in providing outreach and psychotherapy to historically marginalized populations.
Ability to provide clinical services in a language other than English.
Demonstrated specialized training and/or clinical expertise applicable to the university counseling environment.
Ability to share knowledge in accessible and applicable ways to teammates and the campus community.
Experience in integrated health and counseling settings.
Experience working with electronic system for scheduling and casenotes.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Possession of a Master's degree in appropriate field and current licensure in the State of California as LPCC, LCSW or LMFT.
OR
Possession of doctoral degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology and current licensure in the State of California as a Psychologist.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, DEGREES, CREDENTIALS:
Current California psychologist, LPCC, LCSW, or LMFT license that is free of active disciplinary action.

Anticipated Hiring Range: $7,481/month prorated by hours per week
Classification Range: Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. SPECIAL CONDITIONS
Must be able to respond to campus situations calling for Counseling & Psychological Services presence (i.e. campus crises, student death, etc.) after normal business hours, or on weekends. Occasional holiday work and adjustment to normal working hours to meet special jobs may be required.
This position classification has been defined as "Exempt" and is not subject to the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

The Certified/Registered SUD Counselor working under limited supervision is responsible for providing services to substance abuse clients; to include, assessments, developing treatment and recovery plans, identifying behaviors that impede rehabilitation, and facilitating individual and group counseling sessions.
How will I contribute
Deliver individual and group counseling services, case management services, education and community outreach services, and referrals to appropriate services/community resources as necessary.
May provide intake and program orientation for participant including, but not limited to, assessment of psychological and social functioning and the development, implementation, and ongoing review of the participants Individual Treatment Plans in accordance with the Title IX regulations and Program protocol and policies.
Conduct breathalyzer and/or saliva tests on participants as appropriate, documenting results
Prepare participant progress reports, when necessary.
Interact with the criminal justice system and/or referral sources, when necessary.
Monitor and maintain participant files, charts, attendance schedules, face-to-face monitoring forms, group progress notes, completion of vocational/educational and self-help activities, aftercare, scheduled make-up sessions, etc. to ensure compliance with Title IX regulations and Program policies.
Monitor participant payments/fees and assist with fee collections. Conduct financial assessment interview in accordance with Title IX Regulations and Program protocols.
Recommend leaves of absence, dismissal/suspension, reinstatement, completion, etc. for participants in accordance with Title IX and Program policies.
Communicate openly and clearly, on a regular basis, with Clinical Supervisor and support staff to ensure Program effectiveness (appropriate caseload, work hours, scheduling, group capacity, etc.)
Abide by all Kings View policies and procedures, including but not limited to, confidentiality of program participants (Title IX, Title 42, and HIPPA/Privacy).

Associate degree or the equivalent sixty college semester units with emphasis in behavioral or social sciences if required for the position.

Completion of 40 hours per two-year period of related training is required for continued employment for registered/certified counselors

Provide 1:1 care directly with Clients during scheduled sessions under the supervision of a Board- Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
Implement established behavioral treatment plans based on the science of applied behavior analysis (ABA) across skill levels, moderate to severe problem behaviors, and service delivery settings.
Ensure that 100% of the scheduled direct services are provided without any scheduling interruptions.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client progress, interventions, and outcomes.
Collect data related to Client's progress during treatment sessions.
Incorporate activities and games that are developmentally appropriate and engaging for the client in alignment with the treatment plan.
Promote Client engagement to build their strengths in a natural and enjoyable manner.
Consulting with case Supervisor on treatment plans, Client updates, and intervention strategies.
Receiving and utilizing ongoing training, guidance, and support.
Follow program procedures, administrative tasks, direct therapy skills, and other duties that are in line with our compliance requirements.
Maintaining reliable communication to record scheduled appointments and return phone calls within 24 hours.
Ensuring that the company's “zero tolerance policy” is understood, implemented, and reinforced in the region.
Completing all duties, tasks, and/or special projects assigned by leaders and/or the business.

How will I contribute
Deliver individual and group counseling services, case management services, education and community outreach services, and referrals to appropriate services/community resources as necessary.

Monitor participant payments/fees and assist with fee collections. Conduct financial assessment interview in accordance with Title IX Regulations and Program protocols.
Recommend leaves of absence, dismissal/suspension, reinstatement, completion, etc. for participants in accordance with Title IX and Program policies.
Communicate openly and clearly, on a regular basis, with Clinical Supervisor and support staff to ensure Program effectiveness (appropriate caseload, work hours, scheduling, group capacity, etc.)
Abide by all Kings View policies and procedures, including but not limited to, confidentiality of program participants (Title IX, Title 42, and HIPPA/Privacy).
Attend scheduled staff meetings.

Associate degree or the equivalent sixty college semester units with emphasis in behavioral or social sciences if required for the position.

Consulting with case Supervisor on treatment plans, Client updates, and intervention strategies.
Receiving and utilizing ongoing training, guidance, and support.
Follow program procedures, administrative tasks, direct therapy skills, and other duties that are in line with our compliance requirements.
Maintaining reliable communication to record scheduled appointments and return phone calls within 24 hours.
Ensuring that the company's “zero tolerance policy” is understood, implemented, and reinforced in the region.
Completing all duties, tasks, and/or special projects assigned by leaders and/or the business.
Participating in team meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities.
Providing make up hours as an alternate care team member.
Maintaining eligible transportation and current liability insurance (if applicable).

High School Diploma or GED (minimum)
Reliable Transportation
Successfully complete Live Scan background check, employment verification and TB screening
Be able to lift up to 30lbs. While assisting consumers
Must be able to run, bend, sit, stand for long periods at a time

Empathy and compassion towards the families we support
Maintains professional demeanor, boundaries, and composure
Demonstrates effective communication, and shows ability to implement existing behavioral plans
Implement outlined plans to achieve desired goals
Ability to connect with clients and families by adapting to their specific needs
Be comfortable working in clients' homes
Work in both indoor and outdoor settings as they relate to the patient's natural environment, which may include being outdoors in a variety of weather conditions (e.g., community skills, recess in a school setting, etc.)
