Remembrance, Resolution, Reconciliation, Restoration, Renewal About the Position:The Supervising Counselor supports the Program Director and Associate Program Director in the day-to-day programming activities, provides direct supervision to the AOD Counselors and OMCP Mentors, and assists in providing program coverage including, but not limited to CBI program components. What you will do: Supervise approximately six (6) AOD Counseling/Peer Navigator staff. Evaluate staff performance and provide applicable coaching and training. Track and monitor Contractor staff performance, including implementing corrective measures as needed. Assess and regularly monitor counseling staff progress towards achieving and maintaining a valid AOD certification. Supervise the orientation and intake processes of all participants newly assigned to programming. Approve and monitor SUD relapse prevention/CBI action plan development. Track all participants (i.e., names of all participants in the program, counselors assigned to participants, readiness to change, progress of Relapse Prevention and/or Action Plans, stage of program participation, etc.). Provide training, oversight, and monitoring of all ARMS documentation to ensure compliance with the terms of this agreement. Provide training to AOD Counseling staff, including OMCP Mentors. Coordinate and supervise OMCP Mentors assigned to the program. Provide support and additional resources to ensure OMCP Mentors complete the work experience portion of the certification process, including practice of all twelve (12) Core Functions. Provide verification of internship hours for AOD Counseling staff and OMCP Mentors. Verify and record, by the fifth (5th) of the month, each OMCP Mentor's monthly internship hours accrued during the previous month, utilizing the CDCR OMCP. Verification of Internship Hours form in ARMS. Work collaboratively with the CDCR/CCHCS headquarters, local institution, and CDCR contracted staff. Other duties as assigned by the Contractor. What you will bring: Education and Experience: Required: High School Diploma or equivalent Two (2) of experience as a certified AOD Counselor, at a responsibility no less than a Counselor III. Certifications or Licenses: Required: Certified as an AOD Counselor with an organization approved by DHCS, and two (2) years' experience as a certified AOD counselor. Skills/Abilities: Understanding of causes, symptoms, and effects of substance abuse; appreciation for the behavioral, psychological, physical and social effects of drug abuse. Excellent organization, leadership and time management skill. Strong attention to detail and the ability to multi task. Knowledge of contractual requirements of ISUDTP is essential. Excellent interpersonal, written and communication skills. Operational knowledge of MS Office Suite and ARMS. Ability to maintain sensitivity and objectivity under pressures generated by association with substance abuse treatment participants. Flag high-risk patients to the Medical Directors, Physician Extenders, and Regional Clinical Leadership (RCL) and highlight the conditions concerned. Refer such patients to the Medical Directors, Physician Extenders or RCLs (Regional Clinical Leadership) based on the urgency, utilizing the informal Referral Policy or the scheduled Treatment Team/Case Conference session. Review physician notes, following the Medical Directors or Physician Extenders' session with the patient, verifying that they noted and addressed the high-risk factor, or otherwise bring it immediately to the attention of the supervising counselor, as well as the clinic manager, until the matter's proper and professional handling by the physician or physician extender. Advise, in writing, other staff members (including the clinic manager, supervising counselor, dispensing nurse and front office) of high-risk patients and their condition.
