The Role
As the Founding Blockchain Engineer, you'll design and build the foundational distributed systems and consensus mechanisms that ensure the platform's speed, correctness, and security. Key Responsibilities
Develop core blockchain components including storage layers, execution engines, transaction pools, gossip protocols, and state-machine replication
Implement, harden, and extend consensus algorithms to ensure safety, liveness, and high performance under real-world network conditions
Profile and optimize CPU, memory, I/O, and network stacks to identify bottlenecks and achieve low-latency, high-throughput performance
Integrate advanced cryptographic primitives such as hash functions, Merkle proofs, digital signatures, encryption schemes, and key-exchange protocols
Design and build reliable peer discovery, NAT traversal, connection pooling, load balancing, and encrypted networking (TLS)
Develop and maintain multiplexed transports (TCP, UDP, QUIC) for robust peer-to-peer communication

The Ellucian Banner Developer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining functional areas of our Ellucian Banner software. This role may require some after-hours or weekend hours during major upgrades or emergency situations.
Responsibilities of the Ellucian Banner Developer Job in Syracuse NY:
Directly supervise Banner Support Specialists, Banner Functional Support Specialists, Enterprise System Integrators, and other programming positions.
Delegates projects and workflow of the Banner programming team, and programming work related to the development, implementation, and maintenance of the College's enterprise systems ecosystem.
Collaborate with Ellucian consultants, users, IT teams, and database administrators to develop, research and provide solutions to ensure system stability and efficiency.
Support the maintenance of Ellucian Banner Core Modules and other functions.
Provide support and test remote database administration (DBA).
Provide supplemental training, advice, and information to technical and functional personnel within the college as needed.
Assist in training end-users and creating documentation for Banner processes.
Minimum Qualifications of the Ellucian Banner Developer Job in Syracuse NY:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
Experience with Ellucian Banner products required.
Programming and analytical experience supporting computing users in a networked environment.
Application development experience using SQL, PL/SQL, C, Perl, HTML, Java, or similar programming languages.
Understanding of the security issues involved in maintaining and safeguarding institutional data.
Excellent writing and communications skills, research and problem-solving abilities.
