The Surgical Counselor will contribute to the fulfillment of Panorama Eyecare's mission statement by acting as a liaison between the patient, physician, clinic, Pre-Surgical Department, and Surgery Center (ASC) through providing all scheduling services and providing pre-operative education to the patient. The focus of this position is to ensure that the ophthalmic patient, physician and surgical team experience a positive surgical outcome that exemplifies fulfillment of the mission statement at Panorama Eyecare.
Maintains a friendly, positive and caring attitude with all patients, physicians and staff members.
Interface with patients and their families to ensure care is consistent with their expectations.
Contacts patients for initial scheduling and all follow up questions.
Provides patient education including, but not limited to, surgical technology, lens options, costs, and any pre-surgical preparation.
Understands and reinforces surgeon recommendations / directions regarding surgical procedures, surgical options, and surgical preferences.
Schedules all patients for pre-op visit, surgical procedure, and post-op visits for all locations and co-management locations and follows up on cancellations/reschedules.
Communicates with all members of the health care team to assure continuity of care for the patient, including but not limited to, special instructions for surgeries or changes to surgeries that may arise after initial scheduling is complete.
Follows patients' surgical scheduling process and assists in tracking for second eye cataract scheduling and medical clearances when applicable.
Coordinates surgical procedures with satellite locations as well as off-site surgical centers and hospitals.
Manages high productivity while maintaining accuracy of scheduling.
Maintains knowledge of all doctors' surgical scheduling requirements, surgical options and surgical procedures.
Follows all scheduling protocols and checklists.
Knowledge of procedures for pre-authorization of surgeries with insurance companies and work with billing department to align these pre-authorizations.

Works at our clinic location, Boulder Eye Surgeons, 101 Erie Pkwy, Erie CO 80516.
This is a Full-Time Position.
Compensation for this role will be $21 - $24 an hour based on experience/certification.
