Full Job Description This position provides substance abuse counseling, case management and clinical group services. Counselors interact with clients on a day-to-day basis providing individual and group counseling, as well as engaging in rehabilitation activities as needed. Counselors provide substance abuse recovery skills and information and leadership necessary to provide clients with the ability to recover from substance abuse addiction. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assesses each client's needs and develops an individualized treatment and recovery plan other case management services as determined by the treatment team (anger management, job search, AOD education, etc.) Ensures clients are informed of inappropriate behavior. Acts as facilitator in assigned groups including mixed gender and gender specific groups with gender specific trauma curriculum Develops and maintains a caseload as prescribed by the Program Manager Encourage team building feedback and problem solving in participants. Ensures that collateral services are provided as needed and that clients attend specialized groups or individual counseling sessions. Gathers information for assessment and diagnosis. Conducts intake interviews and completes comprehensive individual assessment as needed. Interacts therapeutically with clients. Initiates appropriate and timely interventions and integrates the clinical concept with sound theoretical and practical applications of rehabilitative and individual group and milieu counseling principles. Interacts with court and law enforcement officials as a team member and on a professional level while maintaining appropriate boundaries Comply with all charting and documentation requirements per contract, funding agency, and RH Community Builder policy Provides counseling support to clients and families and encourages family members and client significant others to participate in client stabilization and counseling services and be able to refer those needing specific services and support. Provides crisis intervention and refers clients to community health, HIV and TB clinics as necessary. Provides a variety of interventions including individual and group therapy and other relevant sobriety-related services to clients. Attends treatment meetings and provides input to treatment plan. Performs specimen collection and drug testing on same gender clients as required. Prepares and maintains assessments, treatment plans, progress notes and other records and documentation. Regularly provides and documents client progress with program requirements. Able to successfully input required progress notes and court summary information into computerized database in a timely manner. Transports clients when necessary. Demonstrates interest and growth in specialty area by attending relevant workshops, seminars and classes; shares this information with program staff Comply with all program rules, policies and procedures including HIPAA standards. Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) Certification through a recognized alcohol and drug certification entity, required. Minimum of 5 years of experience working with alcohol and drug related issues/addictions, preferred. Valid California driver's license and current auto insurance per contract requirements. Proficient user of Microsoft Office Suite and EHR software. Ability to problem solve and react appropriately to emergency situations Ability to work independently and effectively collaborate with a team. The Registered SUD Counselor at Tatum Psychology Employment Group will provide ongoing support and expertise through comprehensive assessments, treatment planning, implementation, and overall evaluation of individual client needs while enhancing the quality of patient management and satisfaction. The Registered SUD Counselor will promote the continuity of care through integrating individualized case management, weekly reviews, and discharge planning. The Registered SUD Counselor will act as the central receiver of pertinent clinical data, and work closely with the Program Manager in the formulation of treatment planning, immediately responding to a crisis and planning for the needs of clients to ensure efficacy of service delivery. The Registered SUD Counselor must be flexible and able to come in while on call for an emergency and be open to schedule changes when required. Communication and Collaboration * Communicate with family, referral sources regarding client progress and/or changes (as allowed via client consent) * Collaborate with Program Manager regarding any and all consequences for clients. * Attend all mandatory clinical and staff meetings and required company trainings. 4. Program Support and Development * Preparation of group materials and researching new methodologies for inclusion in group and individual sessions. * Facilitate transportation when required. * Participate in scheduled site visits. * Attend industry-related workshops, trainings, and conferences. Remembrance, Resolution, Reconciliation, Restoration, Renewal About the Position: As a Registered/Certified Substance Abuse Counselor I, you will support the community by delivering face-to-face rehabilitative programming services provided in the Integrated Substance Use Disorder Treatment Program (ISUDT).What You Will Do: Deliver treatment programming services to participants and conduct group and/or individual sessions. Effectively implement scheduled program curriculum. Leads and participates in face-to-face group and individual meetings utilizing motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy and other therapeutic processes. Engage participants daily, reinforce group rules and expectation for participation and completion. Works directly with participants to develop and implement treatment/action plans and educate participants about supportive networks as they return to the community. Review treatment plans, evaluate and record treatment progress, records visible changes in appearance, behavior and demeanor of program participants. Maintains accurate, timely, and confidential participant records. Evaluates and documents the progress of participants assigned to their groups. Completes all delivery documentation requirements. Summarizes participants' background, treatment plan, and recovery process outcomes. Prepares accurate, concise, informative reports, records and plans that are consistent with Amity standards, and complies with applicable clinical and administrative rules. Liaise with transition/reentry staff, plans and prepares transitional documents as directed by CDCR for continued community program activities. Works collaboratively with CDCR, DRP, CCHCS and institution staff. Supports and collaborates co-faculty, including but not limited to Supervisors, Directors and Regional Directors. Participate in monthly, block, cross-training, curriculum training, technical assistance training, or other training as appropriate. Other duties as assigned. What You Will Bring: Minimum 6 months of experience providing SUDT services as a certified AOD Counselor. Current AOD Certification with organization recognized by the DHCS OR Registration with BBS or AOD Certifying body, depending on education level. Understanding of causes, symptoms, and effects of substance abuse; appreciation for the behavioral, psychological, physical and social effects of drug abuse. Excellent interpersonal, written and communication skills. Operational knowledge of MS Office Suite and ARMS (preferred). Ability to maintain sensitivity and objectivity under pressures generated by association with substance abuse treatment participants. Demonstrate ethical behavior in order to maintain professional standards and safeguard the participants.
