DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Employment Specialist will work under the supervisor of the Director of Employment Services supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in preparing for and obtaining competitive employment. The ideal candidate is a caring and supportive individual who wants their work to make an impact in the lives of the individuals supported.
As an Employment Specialist, the schedule may differ due to the nature of our program. This is a full-time role with 30-40 hours per week. The typical work week is Monday-Friday between 8a and 5p, with some flexibility.
* Search for and/or carve out job opportunities that match individuals specific interests and abilities.
* Builds relationships and rapport with business contacts in the community.
* Assist individuals with resumes, applications, assessments and interviews.
* Assures that employment outcomes are realized for all persons supported by being knowledgeable of employment guidelines, funding sources and requirements; coordinating the activities of other agency staff involved in employment; continuously making employment outcomes a priority, while enacting an employment first policy.
* Helps individuals prepare for interviews by providing resume creation and interview skills coaching.
* Ensures the individual obtains and retains employment by offering support, ensuring appropriate training, job coaching and communicating thru successful closure; communicates with employers and helps to solve issues that may arise to ensure job retention.
* Transport individuals to various locations as needed.

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
* Minimum of six (6) months experience working with individual with disabilities.
* Associates degree preferred but not required.
* One of the following preferred certifications (or willing to obtain within twelve (12) months of hire date): CESP (Certified Employment Support Professional), CRC (Certified Rehabilitation Counselor) or ACRE (Association of Community Rehabilitation Educators).
Must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences both orally and in writing along with excellent computer skills.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is conducted in office settings, client homes and various community locations. Schedule may vary, including nights and weekends. Works effectively with minimal supervision. Position is non-exempt under FLSA guidelines. Must have a valid drivers license and be able to provide safe transportation of the individuals supported.
