    The Resource Development & Membership Engagement Specialist serves as a frontline fundraiser responsible for the growth, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of VOASELA's entry-level and mid-level donor base. This position plays a critical role in expanding individual giving, increasing recurring donations, converting event participation into sustained donor relationships, and strengthening community engagement across the 16 Parish region. This role owns the full donor lifecycle for assigned donors, including prospecting, relationship building, solicitation, follow-up, and stewardship. The Specialist operates primarily in the community and is expected to maintain a strong external presence while supporting the overall fundraising goals of the Donor Fundraising Division. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Membership and Donor Growth • Manage a portfolio of entry-level and mid-level donors, generally ranging from $250 to $5,000 annually, with some flexibility based on donor potential • Cultivate donors from first contact through renewal and upgrade • Identify and steward donors ready to advance into higher giving levels or Society participation • Convert new donors into recurring donors and long-term supporters • Maintain strong donor retention through consistent, personalized engagement New Donor Acquisition • Actively prospect new donors through civic groups, business associations, community events, and networking opportunities • Generate a consistent flow of new donor prospects each quarter • Convert prospects into first-time donors, event participants, and program tour attendees • Support efforts to grow younger donor demographics, including ages 25-40 Event Engagement and Conversion • Participate in and support all major fundraising events, including the Vantage Point Breakfast, Golfstar Classic, program tours, and donor engagement events • Conduct strategic follow-up with new event guests and participants • Convert event participation into donations, memberships, recurring gifts, and future engagement • Assist in identifying and securing table captains and sponsors as appropriate Recurring Giving Program • Actively recruit new monthly and recurring donors • Steward assigned recurring donors to ensure retention and satisfaction • Reinforce recurring giving opportunities during events, meetings, and follow-ups Stewardship and Donor Relations • Conduct personal thank-you calls and stewardship outreach to assigned donors • Provide at least one additional non-collateral stewardship touchpoint annually • Ensure donors feel informed, appreciated, and connected to the mission • Identify lapsed or at-risk donors and implement re-engagement strategies Fundraising Operations and Reporting • Accurately document all donor interactions, meetings, and next steps in the donor management system • Maintain organized prospect and donor records • Provide measurable activity updates during weekly one-on-one meetings with the Director of Development • Assist with gift processing and acknowledgments as needed to ensure accuracy and timeliness Community Relations • Represent VOASELA professionally at community, civic, and business events • Build relationships with community leaders, businesses, and corporate social responsibility contacts • Serve as an external ambassador for VOASELA's mission and programs • Ensure messaging aligns with organizational brand standards and campaign priorities Additional Responsibilities • Support departmental appeals and donor communications through follow-up and outreach • Provide donor stories and mission moments to support communications and marketing efforts • Perform other related duties as assigned ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Non-essential) Adhere to the designated dress code as stipulated for the specific role.     Work Type: Part-Time Department: Adult & Corrections Education Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC) Empowering Educational Access, Guiding Career Pathways, Supporting Successful Reentry The Advising and Career Coach assists justice-involved students in identifying and overcoming barriers to college enrollment and success, developing academic and career goals, and transitioning into meaningful employment. The Advising and Career Coach will assist with enrollment, financial aid, and job skills training. This position provides holistic support, connecting students to college and community resources and tracking their progress from enrollment to job retention. Key Responsibilities 30% - Academic Guidance and Retention: * Assist students with the college application process, financial aid, and registration. Monitor academic progress, provide intervention for at-risk students, and connect them with tutoring and study skills workshops. 25% - Individualized Coaching and Advising: * Conduct one-on-one assessments and coaching sessions to help students identifying career interests, evaluate their background and skills, and develop an individualized education and career plan. 10% - Program Development and Outreach: * Plan, design, and deliver workshops and orientation sessions on topics like financial aid, career pathways, and life skills. Actively recruit students for college programs and represent the college at community events. 10% - Career Development and Job Readiness: * Improve job search skills, including resume writing, interviewing techniques, and workplace etiquette. Plan and implement career exploration opportunities like industry visits and career fairs. 10% - Barrier Mitigation and Support: * Address the specific needs of underrepresented and disadvantaged students (e.g., housing, childcare, transportation, substance abuse counseling) by providing referrals to appropriate support services and community organizations. 5% - Data Management and Reporting: * Maintain accurate and confidential records of student interactions and progress in information systems. Track and report participation, persistence, and completion outcomes to inform program evaluation and improvement. 5% - Stakeholder Collaboration: * Build and maintain relationships with internal college departments (e.g., Enrollment Services, Financial Aid, Faculty) and external partners (e.g., employers, governmental agencies, community groups) to ensure seamless support and alignment with local workforce needs. 5% Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Education * Associate's degree in counseling, social work, human services, criminal justice, or a related field. Experience * Three (3) or more years of progressively responsible experience in advising, case management, career counseling, job placement, working with justice-involved or disadvantaged populations, or related fields. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities * Strong interpersonal, communication, and listening skills, with the ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds. * Empathetic and compassionate demeanor with a strong commitment to helping individuals achieve their goals. * Ability to work independently, make sound decisions, and handle confidential information with discretion. * Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office.
