HHMI is seeking a Contracts Counsel for its Office of the General Counsel (OGC) to help support HHMI's programs and operations by providing informed, practical, creative, and timely legal counsel in the review and negotiation of research‑related agreements. The person in this role will review and negotiate contracts relating to the conduct of research in HHMI laboratories. These contracts include agreements covering the transfer of reagents and other materials into and from HHMI laboratories (inbound and outgoing Materials Transfer Agreements or MTAs and MTOs). In addition, the Contracts Counsel ensures that inter‑institutional agreements (IIAs) and licenses entered into by third‑party research institutions that relate to technology developed in HHMI laboratories are consistent with HHMI's policies and interests. The Contracts Counsel will work closely with other OGC staff, HHMI scientific management, HHMI laboratory heads and staff, and research institution staff to efficiently resolve issues relating to MTAs, MTOs, IIAs, and licenses.

Consult and coordinate with others in OGC and at HHMI, including Senior Director‑Scientific Officers and Senior Director‑Scientific Program Officers, as appropriate, on MTA, MTO, and license issues.
Update and maintain electronic databases associated with MTAs, MTOs, and licenses in a timely manner.

You will collaborate with attorneys, legal professionals, technologists, and business leaders to design and drive a global privacy program that supports every corner of EA, from game studios and marketing to central technology and AI initiatives. You will report to EA's Senior Privacy Counsel based in Los Angeles. We will consider candidates who can work at least three days per week on-site at our offices in Los Angeles, Kirkland, Austin, or Vancouver.
Role Responsibilities
* Partner with the Privacy Team to design, implement, and continuously enhance a comprehensive global privacy program focused on risk assessment, control design, compliance monitoring, and long-term program evolution.
* Advise on complex or high-risk privacy issues in game development, deployment, live services, marketing/ad-tech, marketplace/commerce tools, and player engagement features.
* Act as the primary legal partner for central technology and engineering organizations, embedding privacy-by-design from concept through launch across shared platforms, back-end systems, cross-game infrastructure, and enterprise-wide internal tools.
* Shape and refine internal privacy and data governance policies, playbooks, and practical guidance.
* Deliver legal research and actionable advice on emerging global privacy regulations, while building subject-matter expertise on key laws and issues.
* Guide vendor and partner privacy diligence, including third-party integrations such as SDKs, ad-tech, analytics, and cloud providers.
* Contribute to incident response readiness and execution, including data breach investigations, regulator notifications, and player- and employee-facing communications.
* Support responses to regulator inquiries, audits, and investigations, in collaboration with cross-functional partners.
* Develop targeted training and awareness programs for studios, engineers, and business partners to reinforce privacy and data protection best practices.
* Track organizational processes and internal controls, conduct effectiveness reviews, and complete documentation (such as PIAs/DPIAs, and RoPAs) to demonstrate compliance and drive continuous improvement.
General Qualifications
* J.D. with 5+ years of relevant legal experience.
* Strong background in consumer privacy, data protection, and information governance, ideally with experience supporting digital product launches in the consumer technology, gaming, or entertainment industries.
* Experience interpreting and advising on global privacy laws, including GDPR and U.S. state privacy laws, as well as other international frameworks.
* Ability to bridge the gap between legal, technical, and design, with sufficient technical and UX fluency to partner effectively with engineers and designers in creating privacy-forward, player-facing experiences.
* Knowledge of children's and age-appropriate design and compliance frameworks, along with at least a familiarity in online safety laws and requirements aimed at protecting minors.
* Experience with technology transactions, including drafting and negotiating Data Processing Agreements (DPAs).
* Understanding of incident response processes, including data breach preparedness and management.
* Comfort with using AI tools to enhance individual and team productivity.
* Interest in AI privacy and ethics, including responsible data use in emerging technologies.
* Professional certifications such as CIPP/US, CIPP/E, CIPM, or AIGP preferred.
* Background in computer science, engineering, or another technical discipline is a plus.

Code development conversant for supporting Applications using ColdFusion. Ensuring data quality, integrity, and consistency across different systems.
SQL proficiency (intermediate skill level minimum)
Troubleshooting and resolving data integration issues
Solid skills with writing/translating SQL queries and SQL data validation.
Performance tuning of SQL queries.
Analyzing and resolving issues with Autosys jobs and processes
Jobs failures troubleshoot in AutoSys, failure can be Linux scripting, Oracle schedulers.
Roles & Responsibilities
Optimizing Database jobs for performance by collaborating with DBAs and implementing SQL coding and design changes within the job structure.
Understand the existing ColdFusion code base and make any changes as per business requirements.
Actively participated in troubleshooting and resolving issues related to data loading delays and database server outages, ensuring minimal disruption to data flow and system operations
Interact with DBA for any Server related issues or DB tunings required to solve any performance issues.
Engaged in periodic reviews of job logs and performance metrics to identify trends, proactively addressing potential issues.
Troubleshooting production issues through meticulous job log reviews, implementing necessary design changes via change management and adhering to the code promotion process.
Contributed to the development and maintenance of documentation for troubleshooting procedures, best practices, and system configurations, facilitating knowledge sharing within the team and managing Change Requests
Resolving data issues arising from load delays or database server downtimes, with a focus on ensuring customer satisfaction.
Collaborated with stakeholders to understand business requirements, providing valuable insights and recommendations for optimizing data processing workflows.
Base Salary Range: $100,000- $120,000 per annum
