ResponsibilitiesCompliance Oversight Monitor and interpret LSC, IOLA, OTDA, HOPP, and other funding and regulatory requirements Review grant agreements and funding conditions to ensure organizational compliance Advise leadership and staff on compliance obligations and risk areas Policies & Procedures Review and update organizational policies and practices to ensure compliance Identify compliance issues related to new or existing programs and recommend solutions Implement policy and procedure changes in response to regulatory updates Training & Guidance Develop and deliver compliance training for attorneys, paralegals, and support staff Create clear training materials, guides, and reference tools Collaborate with HR for onboarding/training new employees Provide ongoing guidance and consultation to staff on compliance questions Monitoring & Audits Conduct internal compliance reviews, including case files, timekeeping, and service restrictions Develop systems to identify, correct, and prevent compliance issues Prepare for and respond to audits, monitoring visits, and compliance inquiries Other Duties Carry a reduced caseload of advice and brief service cases through the HelpLine. Professional Standards Demonstrate the highest level of professionalism when handling confidential and sensitive organizational information. Communicate effectively and courteously with staff, leadership, funding agencies, and external partners. Maintain regular and predictable attendance in accordance with organizational policies. Adapt to new regulations, technologies, and systems relevant to compliance monitoring. Comply with all Legal Services Corporation regulations, LASMNY policies and procedures, and grant-based reporting requirements. Perform additional responsibilities and duties as assigned by a supervisor based on agency needs. Required Qualifications Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. Admission to practice law in New York State and a minimum of three (3) years of post-admission legal practice. Experience with legal aid, nonprofit organizations, or grant-funded programs strongly preferred. Knowledge of or ability to quickly learn LSC regulations and other legal aid funding requirements. Strong organizational, analytical, and written communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with staff at all levels of the organization. Compensation and Benefits This position offers a competitive salary, starting at $ 95,286.00 for licensed attorneys with three years of experience and up to $122,383.00 for licensed attorneys with more than fifteen years of experience.     The Employment Specialist will screen and assess incoming referrals, develop and maintain positive, professional partnerships with local businesses in order to promote employment opportunities for program participants. This position will provide classroom education and community-based work experiences and evaluations and job coaching supports to individuals in a work environment. The Employment Specialist must be familiar with supports to include advocacy; training in soft skills such as effective communication, problem-solving skills, work ethic, grooming/hygiene, response to supervision, etc., retention services to provide ongoing work supports, goal planning, treatment team interaction, establishment and cultivation of natural supports at the work site and interactions with funding sources and employers. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES Screening and assessment Completion of intake/screening; complete discovery phase; vocational goal planning. Provide soft and hard skill training and assessment via Employment Center, classroom and/or community based experiences. Job development/placement: Develop and maintain positive, professional relationships with local businesses to build a strong base of potential employers. Develop and maintain an effective communication with program participants, families, referents and treatment team providers. Provide job placement services such as career counseling, assistance with applications, interview skill building and presentation of work incentives. Documentation: Provide accurate, detailed, and timely documentation of supports. Ensure compliance with all pertinent government and agency regulations and operating standards. Responsible to complete periodic peer reviews of program participant records. Attend treatment team meetings, participate in community meetings and trainings as applicable. QUALIFICATIONS Associate's Degree required. A Bachelor's Degree in, Social Work, Rehab Counseling or other related field preferred. At least two (2) years' experience in employment and/or sales or customer service. Innovations and SETI certification is required but may be obtain on the job. Must complete and be current in Office of Mental Health (OMH) required trainings to provide onsite services in their facilities. Travel is required. Must have a valid NYS Driver's License. Intermediate computer skills. This position requires excellent communication skills, both verbal and written and collaboration with ACCES-VR, OPWDD and OMH is essential.
