The Registered SUD Counselor will act as the central receiver of pertinent clinical data, and work closely with the Program Manager in the formulation of treatment planning, immediately responding to a crisis and planning for the needs of clients to ensure efficacy of service delivery. The Registered SUD Counselor must be flexible and able to come in while on call for an emergency and be open to schedule changes when required.
Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday 1:00pm - 9:30pm
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Client Care and Clinical Services
Completes admissions/intakes for new clients.
Assess and make recommendations regarding client's level of care.
Makes recommendations regarding continuing and aftercare.
Follow up and monitor aftercare recommendations.
Conduct family meetings.
Crisis intervention.
Conduct daily educational and/or experiential client groups.
Create and implement clients' schedule into program and communicate client's needs.
Coordinator admissions and discharge with the Program Manager.
2. Documentation and Compliance
Compose and enter daily progress notes for each client.
Compose and enter daily group notes for clients.
Documentation and treatment plan reviews.
Abide by all DHCS, Agency's, JCAHO and all state and federal governing agencies.
Maintain an active certification/license through a DHCS-approved certifying organization.
3. Communication and Collaboration
Communicate with family, referral sources regarding client progress and/or changes (as allowed via client consent)
Collaborate with Program Manager regarding any and all consequences for clients.
Attend all mandatory clinical and staff meetings and required company trainings.
4. Program Support and Development
Preparation of group materials and researching new methodologies for inclusion in group and individual sessions.
Facilitate transportation when required.
Participate in scheduled site visits.
Attend industry-related workshops, trainings, and conferences.

Provides orientation to new patients to the programs' rules, policies, procedures, and patients' rights.

Evaluate the patients for any high-risk conditions (e.g., liver failure, pregnancy, overdose, bipolar, schizophrenia, etc.), which may endanger the patient (suicidal) or other parties (homicidal).
Administer the BAM-R, C-SSRS, GAD-7, and PHQ-9 screening tools to determine the severity of the patient's mental/emotional status.
Evaluate the risk factors concerning each such case, considering the appropriateness of, and professionalism in treating such individuals in an OTP in comparison to treatment in a residential facility or other treatment modalities.
Review and ask about other practitioners' involvement in the treatment of these high-risk conditions. Recommend immediate referral to such a specialist in case of need. Request the patient sign a waiver for release of information which will allow communication with the other practitioner in case of need (e.g., deterioration of the patient's condition)
Flag high-risk patients to the Medical Directors, Physician Extenders, and Regional Clinical Leadership (RCL) and highlight the conditions concerned.
Refer such patients to the Medical Directors, Physician Extenders or RCLs (Regional Clinical Leadership) based on the urgency, utilizing the informal Referral Policy or the scheduled Treatment Team/Case Conference session.
Review physician notes, following the Medical Directors or Physician Extenders' session with the patient, verifying that they noted and addressed the high-risk factor, or otherwise bring it immediately to the attention of the supervising counselor, as well as the clinic manager, until the matter's proper and professional handling by the physician or physician extender.
Advise, in writing, other staff members (including the clinic manager, supervising counselor, dispensing nurse and front office) of high-risk patients and their condition. Maintain and circulate minutes from treatment team/case conference sessions to the other staff members.
Provide professional counseling and referral services by:
Addressing patients' clinical and special needs by maintaining referrals to specialized (โsecond tierโ) services rendered by physicians, physician extenders and counselors within Aegis, as well as referrals to Keys to Recovery (or other twelve-step) support groups, and other community resources (e.g., agencies and practitioners outside of Aegis), acting as a liaison to these agencies, as necessary.
Providing individual and group counseling as clinically necessary, to address the problem issues identified in the Initial Assessment and Treatment Plans. The counseling service will include protocols for the treatment of Relapse Prevention, Peer Pressure, Anger Management, Domestic Violence, Parenting, Family Preservation, Vocational Rehabilitation, etc.

* Possession of a Master's Degree or equivalent foreign degree in rehabilitation counseling;
OR
* Possession of a Master's Degree or equivalent foreign degree in special education, AND twenty-four (24) or more semester units in upper division or graduate level course work in counseling, guidance, student personnel, psychology, or social work;
OR
* Possession of a Master's Degree in counseling guidance, student personnel, psychology, career development, or social welfare; AND EITHER twelve (12) or more semester units in upper division or graduate level course work specifically in counseling or rehabilitation of individuals with disabilities, OR two (2) years of full-time experience, or the equivalent, in one or more of the following:
* Counseling or guidance for students with disabilities;
OR
* Counseling and/or guidance in industry, government, public agencies, military or private social welfare organizations in which the responsibilities of the position were predominantly or exclusively for persons with disabilities; OR
* Possession of a fully satisfied lifetime California Community College Disabled Student Programs and Services Instructor Credential authorizing service to teach courses in college for students with disabilities
AND
* One (1) year experience working in rehabilitation counseling or with students with a disability in an educational setting;
AND
* Awareness of assistive technology and alternate media services for students with disabilities;
AND
* The equivalent.

About the Position:
As a Registered/Certified Substance Abuse Counselor I, you will support the community by delivering face-to-face rehabilitative programming services provided in the Integrated Substance Use Disorder Treatment Program (ISUDT). What You Will Do:
Deliver treatment programming services to participants and conduct group and/or individual sessions.
Effectively implement scheduled program curriculum. Leads and participates in face-to-face group and individual meetings utilizing motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy and other therapeutic processes.
Engage participants daily, reinforce group rules and expectation for participation and completion.
Works directly with participants to develop and implement treatment/action plans and educate participants about supportive networks as they return to the community.
Review treatment plans, evaluate and record treatment progress, records visible changes in appearance, behavior, and demeanor of program participants.
Maintains accurate, timely, and confidential participant records. Evaluates and documents the progress of participants assigned to their groups.
Completes all delivery documentation requirements. Summarizes participants' background, treatment plan, and recovery process outcomes.
Prepares accurate, concise, informative reports, records and plans that are consistent with Amity standards, and complies with applicable clinical and administrative rules.
Liaise with transition/reentry staff, plans, and prepares transitional documents as directed by CDCR for continued community program activities.
Works collaboratively with CDCR, DRP, CCHCS and institution staff. Supports and collaborates co-faculty, including but not limited to Supervisors, Directors, and Regional Directors.
Participate in monthly, block, cross-training, curriculum training, technical assistance training, or other training as appropriate.

What You Will Bring:
Minimum 6 months of experience providing SUDT services as a certified AOD Counselor.
Current AOD Certification with organization recognized by the DHCS OR Registration with BBS or AOD certifying body, depending on education level.
Understanding of causes, symptoms, and effects of substance abuse; appreciation for the behavioral, psychological, physical, and social effects of drug abuse.
Excellent interpersonal, written and communication skills.
Operational knowledge of MS Office Suite and ARMS (preferred).
Ability to maintain sensitivity and objectivity under pressures generated by association with substance abuse treatment participants.
Demonstrate ethical behavior in order to maintain professional standards and safeguard the participants.
Protect and maintain program participants' health, safety, welfare, and confidentiality of records and participant information.
