Job Description: Low Voltage Cabling Foreman - Data Center Fit-Out The Low Voltage Cabling Foreman is responsible for leading and overseeing all structured cabling and low-voltage installation activities during a data center fit-out project. This includes supervising field technicians, organizing daily work schedules, ensuring quality and safety compliance, managing inventory and equipment staging, coordinating with other trades, and ensuring projects are completed on time and according to specifications. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Supervision Lead a team of low-voltage technicians performing copper and fiber installations, terminations, testing, and data center build-outs. Assign daily tasks, monitor progress, and ensure the crew adheres to project schedules and installation standards. Ensure all tasks are aligned with engineered drawings, cable schedules, rack elevations, and method-of-procedure (MOP) documents. Track project progress and communicate updates, delays, or impacts to the Project Manager. Quality Assurance & Technical Oversight Inspect and verify that all copper and fiber terminations, cable routing, labeling, and pathway installations meet TIA/EIA, BICSI, NEC, and client-specific standards. Troubleshoot escalated technical issues, test failures, or installation conflicts. Review and sign off on test results, as-built documentation, and closeout materials. Ensure proper cable management, routing practices, and data center cleanliness. Inventory, Material Handling & Equipment Staging Oversee receiving, inventory tracking, and organization of materials, hardware, cables, and consumables. Manage material forecasts and communicate shortages or procurement needs to the Project Manager or warehouse team. Supervise staging of racks, patch panels, cabinets, pre-terminated assemblies, and equipment prior to installation. Ensure tools, lifts, testers, and equipment are maintained and accounted for. Coordination with Other Trades & Stakeholders Work closely with project managers, general contractors, electricians, HVAC teams, and network engineers to align installation sequences and resolve conflicts. Participate in coordination meetings, site walks, and client updates. Maintain professional communication and represent the low-voltage team on-site. Safety & Compliance Enforce all jobsite safety rules, OSHA regulations, data center access protocols, and PPE requirements. Ensure all crew members follow safe work practices when working on ladders, lifts, overhead pathways, and underfloor environments. Complete safety logs, incident reports, and risk assessments as required. Qualifications & Skills Required 4-7+ years of structured cabling or low-voltage installation experience, including data center environments. Prior experience as a Lead Technician or Foreman supervising crews. Strong knowledge of copper/fiber termination, testing, and certification tools (Fluke DSX, OTDR, fiber inspection equipment). Ability to read, interpret, and implement structured cabling drawings, rack elevations, and MOP/SOP documentation. Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Experience with inventory control, equipment staging, and materials management. Preferred BICSI Technician (TECH) or higher (such as RCDD is a plus). OSHA 10/30 or equivalent safety certification. Detects natural gas leaks when working on underground cable, distinguishes colors to identify circuits and color-coded electrical connectors and establishes and maintains electric line clearances with other utilities. 12. Inspects the work of Linemen, Linemen Apprentice, and Electric Utility Equipment Operators to ensure compliance with prescribed operating and safety standards. 13. Installs and terminates high-voltage connectors; transformers and switches in manholes and vaults, securing equipment, and cables; and various service lines, power poles, meters, and metering devices. 14. It is the foreman's responsibility to recognize areas for potential improvement and to report any “near miss” events in order for the crew members to learn from those events with the goal of preventing future accidents and report all incidents/accidents to the safety specialist as soon as possible. 15. Maintains time reporting records of the crew and approves employee leave. 16. Prioritizes work assignments, plans, coordinates, and directs the work of various size crews, which may include different crew compositions. 17. Provides lead supervision over workers involved in maintaining, installing, and repairing underground and overhead power distribution and service lines, transformers, meters, metering equipment, and related equipment. 18. Reads and interprets construction plans and schematics (related to the installation of electrical power distribution lines). 19. Responsible for supervising personnel and overseeing equipment, materials, and recordkeeping duties. SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: A high school diploma or General Education Degree [GED] and a minimum of 5 years' project construction experience in related fields. Must have 2 years' experience as Journeyman Lineman. Must possess a valid State Issued Driver's License. Must have Class A CDL. Complete OSHA 10hr Safety Training Program within 60 days. Complete OSHA 30hr Safety Training Program. Completion of Cover-Up Course and Critical review; along with recommendations from Operations, Safety/Training. The E&D Scaffold Foreman is responsible for the design of various types of scaffolds and ordering materials as required to maintain workflow. This role will perform all necessary documentation (i.e. delivery/pick up tickets, timesheets, extra work authorizations, safety plans, JSA's and scaffold inspection checklists, etc.). In addition, this position will serve as a mentor to the E&D crew to aid in their development. Oversees and directs crew members to ensure daily tasks are carried out in a safe, timely and efficient manner. Must be able to read isometric drawings, derive location, orientation, size and diameter of piping or other equipment and any other tasks involved in installing/maintaining piping systems. Some of these duties may include; lay outs, fabrication, assembly, installs and maintaining piping systems, pipe supports, fixtures, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment for steam, hot water fixtures and equipment for steam, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling and production and processing systems. Work with or supervise other crafts at levels appropriate to training and skills as requested by project supervision. **Experience Level** Lead **Primary Responsibilities and Duties** - Plan, coordinate and organize people, equipment, tools and materials to promote the safe, efficient and timely construction of the project. - Ensure that construction equipment is correctly operated and maintained. - Maintain accurate reporting records including job quantities, productivity rates, time sheets and daily management reports. - May assist in developing a weekly schedule and in carrying out sequence of activities for assigned crew. - Responsible for timely completion of work assignments within the estimated costs while maintaining the company's reputation for quality workmanship/product. - Responsible for the safety of those on the crew and will conduct all operations according to all applicable company and government safety rules. - Will develop and maintain a proper crew attitude by conducting toolbox meetings and communicating safety concerns, work scope, plans and schedules to leadmen and crews. - Monitor compliance by all employees under his/her supervision with all Company policies **Qualifications** - Experience as a Carpenter Foreman in a powerplant/industrial setting is required. - Ability to demonstrate thorough knowledge and skill to perform all essential functions of craft workers under his/her supervision. - Ability to perform task planning to safely and efficiently carry out all aspects of work assigned, train/ teach safety practices, policies and procedures. - Have a working knowledge of the scheduling, material control and unit manhour performance, estimating fundamentals and job cost management systems. - Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with craft workers under his/her supervision and management/supervision. - Must be a good communicator, motivator, and team player. **Requirements** - The person in this position needs to constantly move about a construction/industrial site, so should be able to stand, walk, sit, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl - Constantly works in a construction environment and will be exposed to changing outdoor weather conditions - Work irregular hours, weekends, overtime and holidays as required - May be required to use ladders/mechanical platforms/manlifts/scaffold to access required equipment/work areas (may exceed 200 feet), so must be able to climb and maintain balance on formwork, steel formwork, stairs, ladders and scaffolds - Move and work in and around confined and cluttered places, and uneven surfaces - Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy and dusty environment - May be required/able to move items weighing up to 50 pounds across construction/industrial site - Must have required tools - Observe and comply with all safety and project rules, perform other duties as required - Ability to pass pre-access drug and alcohol testing, fit for duty medical and background check Equal Opportunity Employer, including disability and protected veteran status.
