The major work duties include planning for an assignment, directing activities on a work site, documenting project activities, and supervising a work crew. The distinguishing characteristics of this classification include responsibility for supervising work crews engaged in manual non-skilled to semi-skilled labor performing a variety of maintenance, construction, and custodial duties. Incumbents work under general direction. They are generally in charge of the crew, plan and carry out assignments with considerable independence, and have some latitude in developing procedures and methods. Assignments are received at the beginning of the shift and the foreman typically prioritizes the assignments.
