Summary: A lead hand is appointed by the company to help assist management and fellow employees in the day-to-day operation of freight flow for the dock and/or warehouse and work related decisions. The lead hand ensures compliance to procedures as documented in Damco's Process Documentation and Work Instructions. Advise employees in regards to needs of specific customers Communicate shift progress to supervisor throughout the shift Drive accuracy of paperwork and quality of work for all aspects of the working environment Coordinate day to day activities of workers with the shift supervisor to meet work schedules Rotate throughout all lead hand positions within the facility Ensure team and individual productivity is accurately recorded and met or exceeded Responsible for training workers on customer and departmental specific requirements. Actively participate in monthly Lead Hand Round Tables to discuss and promote best practices in the workplace.
