SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES The HVAC Technician is responsible for profitably managing various accounts, administrative and field construction activities related to the assigned project. Also, is capable of managing small- medium sized projects independently. This HVAC Technician will typically report directly to the V/P of EPC. Key Responsibilities: Direct and mentor HVAC installation and service crews on commercial projects, fostering teamwork and high performance. Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate project execution. Coordinate material deliveries, crew assignments, and equipment logistics to meet project deadlines. Ensure strict compliance with local building codes, safety regulations, and company quality standards. Collaborate effectively with general contractors, inspectors, safety coordinators, project managers, and other stakeholders. Provide hands-on expertise in HVAC system installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance. Maintain accurate records of daily progress, safety inspections, and any jobsite issues or resolutions. Train and develop HVAC apprentices and technicians, supporting their professional growth. Perform comprehensive preventative maintenance on large commercial HVAC systems. Adapt to flexible schedules, including occasional nights, weekends, or travel as project needs require. Knowledge of and Following HVAC codes and regulations set by the State of Hawaii and the US Gov. Required Qualifications: Experience: Minimum 8 years of hands-on HVAC experience in installation, service, or related roles for commercial projects. Skilled in performing preventative maintenance on large commercial HVAC systems. Comfortable with technology, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and ideally estimating/scheduling software. Personal Attributes: Highly organized, self-motivated, and capable of independently managing multiple priorities with accountability. Excellent verbal and written communication skills for clear collaboration and reporting. Resilient under pressure, with a positive attitude and strong team-oriented mindset. Licenses & Certifications: Valid Hawaii driver's license with a clean record (insurable, no major infractions). HVAC license, electrical license, or others highly preferred. Tools: Must provide personal tools required for HVAC work. Citizenship: U.S. citizen eligible for Federal Security Clearance (active clearance strongly preferred). Educational Requirements: High school diploma or GED. Completion of an accredited HVAC trade school program or equivalent training. Working Conditions: Work primarily at commercial construction or service sites, involving physical tasks such as lifting and moving equipment or materials. Flexibility for off-hours work (nights, weekends, or travel) based on project demands. Moderate overtime expected, with potential for increased hours during critical project phases or closeouts. Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 75 pounds frequently. Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, and climb ladders or scaffolding. Must be able to work in confined spaces and at various heights, including on rooftops or elevated platforms. Ability to tolerate a range of environmental conditions, including extreme heat, cold, dust, noise, and humidity, while working indoors or outdoors. Must have the physical endurance to work extended shifts, including early mornings or late evenings, as required by project deadlines. Frequent use of hand and power tools, requiring manual dexterity and precision. Must be able to visually inspect equipment and read technical drawings, manuals, and blueprints. The ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, safety glasses, hard hats, and respirators for extended periods. Must be physically capable of driving to and from job sites and transporting tools or materials as necessary. This position will assist in enhancing the sustainability of Oahu's trails and improving trail conditions for users. Location Honolulu, HI Schedule February 9, 2026 - December 14, 2026 *Dates are flexible. Please inquire during interview. Position is 44 weeks long. Key Duties and Responsibilities Lead a small team (2-3 crew members) in performing a variety of trail work and forestry projects throughout the island of Oahu. This position is hands-on and projects can be physically demanding. Work may include: Vegetation management: Weed whacking, removing brush overgrowth, and clearing blowdowns and removing fallen trees Trail construction and improvement projects: maintaining and repairing existing hiking trails and access roads, rerouting and constructing new trail, building trail features (retaining walls, steps, bridges, gates, fences, etc), and installing drainage features and erosion control measures (i.e. grade dips) Survey and assess trail conditions: documenting trail damage, identifying and mitigating hazards Inventory and upkeep of signage: maintaining and installing trail and hazard signs Maintain tools and equipment including weed whackers, chainsaws, hand tools and other equipment. Driving state vehicles, sometimes on rough 4-wheel drive roads. The work week will be 5 days, 8 hours per day, typically M-F but may include occasional evening and weekend work. Conditions often require working outside in inclement weather and may require walking long distances over rough terrain while carrying equipment each day. Marginal Duties May be required to lead volunteer groups in trail maintenance. May be asked to interact with the public through informal trailside conversation and updates on trail conditions and projects. Support facilities and grounds maintenance work Required Qualifications Minimum of one year of closely related work experience, preferably leading crews in trail maintenance work. Trail design, construction, and maintenance skills Leadership, management, and supervisory experience with youth or young adults Must be able to work outside in adverse conditions and inclement weather, and be physically fit enough to walk long distances over rough terrain while carrying loads of up to 25 lbs. Flexibility, adaptability, and capacity to work in a fluid, changing work environment. Candidate must provide their own housing in Oahu, as well and be able to get to/from office in Honolulu (Makiki Valley). Public buses are an option for those without a vehicle. Must have a valid US driver's license to operate State vehicles. Preferred Qualifications Chainsaw experience is desirable. Chainsaw training will be provided as part of this position, for candidates without a current certification. CPR, Wilderness First Aid or Wilderness First Responder training are desirable. Familiarity with local trails is helpful. Experience driving on rough roads is helpful. Hours 40 per week Living Accommodations No housing is provided.
