    Under the direction of the Recreation Manager-Athletics & Special Events, the Athletic Site Supervisor will be responsible for an assigned facility or sport field. This may include opening, set up, handling patron questions, assisting referees or umpires, and handling situations that may arise. Requirements 1. Ability to understand and exhibit behavior consistent with the stated park district policy. 2. Sufficient knowledge of the sport or activity taking place at the assigned facility. 3. Must possess a pleasant demeanor and can always interact with the public in a courteous manner. 4. Must have a valid State of Illinois Driver's License (Class D). ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Ensure the facility is open and accessible during scheduled games or events. 2. Supervise and assist any part time staff, independent contractors, and volunteers that have assigned duties at the facility related to the event. This can include, but is not limited to, game officials, scorekeepers, concession staff and volunteer coaches. 3. Enforce the rules/policies of the facility you are working at which could be Park District and/or School District properties. 4. Interact with co-workers, general population/park patrons in a professional and positive manner. 5. Monitor all areas of the facility during a game or event. 6. Instruct assigned programs within the guidelines, curriculum, and program description designed for the program. 7. Coordinates lines of communication between the park district and participants. 8. Set up and break down all necessary equipment for the program or sport. 9. Assist with emergency procedures and building evacuation. 10. Perform all instruction and job tasks within the rules and guidelines of the park district's safety program. MARGINAL FUNCTIONS 1. Assist with any special projects related to a game or event. 2. Assist with general upkeep of facilities including light janitorial duties as necessary. ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS 1. Worker may be exposed to outside weather conditions during outdoor events, including extreme heat and humidity, cold, and rain. ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS 1. While performing this job, the employee is required to speak and listen, stand, walk, use hands, sit, stoop, or kneel, bend and lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. 2. Must be able to operate any mechanical equipment necessary to prepare the facility for an event 3. Specific vision requirements include distance, peripheral and depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. 4. Athletic Facility Supervisor may need to stand for prolonged periods of time. 5. Athletic Facility Supervisor may be required to walk, run, job, or perform other physical maneuvers to demonstrate a skill set or component of a program. 6. Athletic Facility Supervisor must be able to resolve differences and problems that arise with patrons, or when necessary, seek the assistance of the Athletic Supervisor in resolving such issues. 7. Assist in record keeping with sign-in/sign-out logs, taking attendance and filling out accident/incident reports as needed, permission slips, informational sheets, ePact evaluations, etc. Coordinate with NWSRA, as needed. Assist with arrangements for substitute counselors and volunteers, when needed.
