District Attorney Post-Bar Law Clerk: February or July 2026 Bar Exam (Law Clerk II)

Overview:


The County of Riverside Office of the District Attorney is seeking post-bar law clerks (Law Clerk II) to work in support of licensed attorneys and gain experience in the field of law. This is an excellent opportunity for students who are enrolled or have recently graduated from an accredited law school to gain practical experience and potentially become entry-level prosecutors after passing the California Bar Exam in 2026.
Responsibilities:

* Perform legal research in the preparation of legal briefs, opinions, and similar documents

* Prepare drafts and legal memoranda summarizing studies of court decisions, state statutes, County Ordinances, and legal opinions

* Review documentary evidence and prepare opinions; prepare correspondence and reports

* Assist with case preparation, including witness contact, victim contact, evidence preparation, and attending court appearances

* Prepare motions and work in the case management system

* Assist with other case-related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

* Education: Students who are enrolled or are currently in their final year of law school in an accredited Juris Doctorate (JD) program or in an accredited Master of Law (LLM) program, or who graduated no later than 2024 from an accredited JD or LLM program

* Exam: First-time testers who are expecting to take, or awaiting results for, the California State Bar Exam scheduled in either February or July of 2026

* Certificate: Applicants must be eligible to obtain a Certificate for Practical Training of Law Students from the California Board of Bar Examiners
