John Carroll School company history timeline

1963

The high school, formerly referred to as St Anastasia Parish High School, changed its name to Central Catholic High School in 1963 with a new building constructed on Delaware Avenue.

1964

1964 In September of 1964, Robert C. Smith '66, Madeliene Humphrey '66, Fred Tyson '67, and Diane Tucker '67 transferred from Immaculata High School (as part of Our Lady Of Fatima Parish) to John Carroll as the first African-American students in our school history.

The John Carroll School opened to 202 freshmen on September 9, 1964, under the leadership of Raymond Wanner.

1965

With the vision of Monsignor Michael Beerhalter, who succeeded Father Gabriel, the high school was then renamed again in 1965 to John Carroll High School.

1967

Archbishop Carroll High Schools' history begins in 1967, originally two separate secondary schools, Archbishop John Carroll for Boys and Archbishop John Carroll for Girls.

1980

That commitment was renewed in the 1980's and 90's by Robert Hoderny, a teacher who began the social justice course at Carroll and demanded that students be critical thinkers, social activists, and filled with school spirit.

1981

1981 The Activity Center (formerly the Benedictine Convent) was opened, including a faculty lounge, art room, and guidance offices.

1984

1984: Established the Edward J. and Louise E. Mellen Chair in Finance

The Diocese of Palm Beach was created in 1984, and John Carroll became one of its three diocesan high schools.

1987

1987 Doctor Rebecca Sullivan became the ninth and first female Principal of John Carroll.

1989

1989: An endowment-funded renovation of the College of Business takes place, adding the Bruening Hall wing.

1989 A Development Office was instituted with Doctor Rebecca Sullivan being named the school's first president.

1990

1990: Established the KPMG Professorship in Accountancy.

1990 The Catholic Youth Football League was formed.

1991

The school year of 1991-92 was the first year without a Mercy sister as principal and the first lay principal was hired.

1992

1992 A new era begins with the relocation of John Carroll Catholic High School to Lakeshore Parkway.

1995

1995: The College of Business celebrates its 50th anniversary.

1998

1998 The John Carroll Catholic High School Board of Directors established the John Carroll Educational Foundation.

1999

1999: Established the Edward M. Muldoon Center for Entrepreneurship.

2001

2001: The first Commencement of the Masters of Science in Accountancy graduate business program takes place.

2004

2004: The M.B.A. program celebrates its 30th anniversary.

2007

2007 John Carroll celebrates its 60th Anniversary.

2008

2008: Established the Mulwick Scholars and the Wasmer Fellows program.

2010

In 2010, new construction and renovation of the schools entrance began for the administrative offices to be moved to the front entrance/ground-level.

2011

2011: Established the Koch Chair in International Business.

2012

2012: Established the Raymond & Eleanor Smiley Endowed Chair in Business Ethics.

2014

2014: Boler College of Business launches a Masters in Laboratory Management in partnership with the Cleveland Clinic.

2015

2015: Established the Robert T. Sullens Endowed Professorship

2016

2016: Celebrated the 20th Anniversary of the Naming of the Boler College of Business with a symposium on sustainable business.

2017

2017 John Carroll celebrates its 70th Anniversary.

2020

2020: Launched the Master of Science in Innovation and Entrepreneurship and the Online M.B.A.
