Position Requirements:
Valid California Clinical Laboratory Scientist license or limited license appropriate for the area of responsibility.
Baccalaureate Degree in a biological science, chemistry, medical technology, or related science.
One year of clinical laboratory experience in any clinical lab area is acceptable, two years, preferred.
Physical Demands:
Frequent sitting and standing; walking and bending, lifting of materials up to 25 pounds for distances to 10 feet.
Frequent use of computer keyboards, monitors, and telephones.

What will you be doing in this role?
The Clinical Laboratory Scientist III (CLS III) performs a range of standard and/or technically demanding procedures in one or more of the Clinical Laboratory disciplines exercising initiative and independent judgment. Responsible for routine and complex immunohematology tests, perform validations, audits, and write SOPs. The CLS III is responsible for the oversight, planning and direction of routine /complex testing to ensure team members have the resources they need and can complete their assigned tasks timely.
Provides expertise and serves as a technical resource for others including less experienced members of the CLS team.
Order appropriate materials, maintain inventory of reagents and supplies, care for lab equipment and include proper documentation of all quality control and assurance procedures Knowledge of accepted analytical practices, weighing, solution preparation, calculations.
Performs selected administrative support functions such as maintenance of time and attendance records, workload documentation, supply inventory and requisitioning, evaluation of quality control data or work rotation and bench assignment scheduling.
Maintain computer proficiency appropriate to enter results into a database and report results to management and communicate with directors and physicians.
Performs routine, complex, and specialized tests requiring well-grounded interpretive skills and knowledge of scientific principles, superb technical skills, and well-developed problem-solving capabilities. Uses approved procedures and protocols according to specialist level standards of practice for speed, organization, precision, and accuracy.
Participates in the introduction and implementation of new procedures and in the evaluation of new instruments.
Provides and monitors professional development such as precepting, mentoring, and educational opportunities to new hires, interns/residents.
Serves as a resource in collaboration with CLS team, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams.
Facilitate special projects or assignments.
Ensures reliability of results personally performed and checks other analysts' work based on quality control and assurance mechanisms, specimen integrity, known clinical history or delta checks, and takes corrective action as necessary.
Develops quality assurance protocols to ensure proper functioning of instruments, reagents and analytical procedures including assaying appropriate standards and controls, performing instrument function verifications, and recording control data.
Monitors and statistically evaluates quality control data and recommends or initiates appropriate corrective action.
Serves as Technologist-in-Charge including coordinating workflow and bench assignments, establishing priorities in testing, and responding to problem inquiries.
Performs phlebotomy procedures including venipuncture and capillary puncture; uses proper technique in accordance with SOPs.
Follows Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
