Responsible for implementing and maintaining a Quality Assurance program, ,establishing and maintaining an approved procedure manual, providing coordination of the technical and administrative functions for the operations of the Clinical Laboratory, verification of the test procedures performed and establishment of the laboratory's test performance characteristics, including the precision and accuracy of each test and test system, establishing and maintaining an approved Proficiency Testing (PT) program, verifying test systems have established acceptable performance specifications for the performance characteristics of accuracy, precision, analytical sensitivity, and analytical specificity, establishing a program for troubleshooting, maintenance and calibration of instrumentation and equipment used to perform the testing, resolving technical problems and ensuring that remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications, evaluating test results for completeness, accuracy and quality and ensuring that patient test results are not reported until all corrective actions have been taken and the test system is functioning properly, identifying training needs and assuring that each individual performing tests and Quality Contrrols receives in-service training and education. Must be a team player and leader in order to share his Quality Control findings whether ther is trending or shifting to all CLS staff for proper corrective action and documentation as applicable. Required Qualifications: Requires a Clinical Laboratory Scientist License issued by the State of California. Possesses the knowledge and skills necessary to provide accurate and timely testing of clinical laboratory specimens in multiple laboratory disciplines. Good clinical judgment and problem solving abilities. Demonstrates good communication skills both verbal and written. Can work in team based environments. Current California Clinical Laboratory Scientist or Specialty License. Bachelor's degree in biological sciences preferred. Prefer 5 years of Quality Assurance experience and at least 8 years of previous acute care clinical laboratory experience in CLS role. Knowledge of Cerner Mellinium desirable.
