1929

The elder Zink, a chemist for the Oklahoma Natural Gas Company, in 1929 founded John Zink Company to manufacture oil and gas combustion units.

1945

As chair of the John Zink Foundation, he oversaw the John Zink Ranch, which his father had established near Sand Springs, Oklahoma, in 1945.

1951

In 1951, John Smith (Jack) Zink began his illustrious career in combustion technology working for his father’s firm, the John Zink Company.

1979

In 1979–80 he established a second combustion unit company, Zinkco, Incorporated, now called Zeeco, Incorporated.

2000

In 2000, Darton assumed the role of President and CEO of Zeeco.

2005

John Smith Zink died in Tulsa on February 5, 2005.
