    General Description The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine Department of Radiology in the Russell H. Morgan Department of Radiology and Radiological Science in Baltimore, MD is seeking a post-doc research fellow to be hired in the FELIX 2.0 laboratory (). This is a full time, post-doc position. The FELIX 2.0 laboratory aims to change the trajectory of how pancreatic cancer is detected, how patients are evaluated, and improve outcomes. Its mission is to harness the power of artificial intelligence, help radiologists and clinicians in detecting pancreatic cancer when it could have otherwise been missed. This is an innovative way of approaching what has been a challenge for many decades. Between Johns Hopkins Medicine, the Lustgarten Foundation, and Microsoft AI for Good, the FELIX 2.0 laboratory is pooling vast resources to improve how we do things, especially considering recent advancements in AI technology. The position will include developing radiomics and deep learning models from contrast-enhanced computed tomography images to improve the early detection of pancreatic tumors and improve patient management. Different machine-learning approaches will be compared, and models validated on data prospectively collected. The position will include working with internal and external databases. The candidate will contribute to coordinating expert interpretation and manuscript writing under supervision. Specific Duties/Responsibilities: Data Curation: Collect and organize datasets along with relevant clinical information to support and drive research studies Radiomics Pipeline Development: Design and optimize robust radiomics pipelines for characterization of CT images. Machine and Deep learning: Develop and implement machine learning and deep learning algorithms to built detection and prediction models for CT images Performance Evaluation: Conduct rigorous statistical analyses to benchmark and compare the performance of diverse approaches. Model Assessment and Deployment: Evaluate model limitations and implement new approaches for deploying models, enhancing their generalizability and real-world applicability. Communication and Reporting: Prepare reports and study findings to present to PI. Manuscript Preparation: Author high-quality research manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals. Strong theoretical understanding and practical experience in deep learning-based machine learning or natural language processing. Strong background in statistical modeling. CMAP brings together researchers from across Johns Hopkins University to advance mental health and addiction services and systems across the U.S. Additionally, CMAP is committed to collaborating with community groups and policymakers to bring evidence-based guidance to decision-makers at local, state, and federal levels. CMAP's Post-Doctoral Fellow will, with support and mentorship, perform cutting edge research designed to improve health by addressing needs related to mental health and substance use. The Fellow will be based at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health Department of Health Policy and Management, under the primary mentorship of a member of the Center's Leadership Team, or, another member of our Core Faculty, with fit depending on interests. The Fellow will support NIH- and foundation-funded projects that examine the impacts of mental health and substance use policies on access, quality, and outcomes of care. Current projects analyze the effects of insurance reforms, payment and delivery system innovations, and state and federal policy changes on treatment utilization and health outcomes. These projects involve a variety of rigorous methodological approaches, including causal inference, quasi-experimental designs, and the use of large-scale claims data and electronic health records. The Fellow is expected to be highly motivated with a passion for investigating policy impacts and have strong analytic and writing skills. The Fellow may have a PhD in health policy, biostatistics, economics, or a related field, or an MD with research training in observational data. The position offers ample opportunities for mentorship in writing manuscripts and grants, the use of innovative methodological approaches, and participating in seminar series. Possibilities for leadership roles and teaching are also available. This fellowship is a one-year, full-time position, with a possible one-year extension based on progress towards goals. Role of Other Faculty: Selected Emergency Department faculty will serve as the principal mentors for the fellows. Researchers from faculty outside the Department of Emergency Medicine, who have established track records of successful collaborative investigation with the Department of Emergency Medicine, will function as research advisors as well. B. Trainees: The duration of the research fellowship is two years; where previous experience allows, the fellowship can be one year. There will be one fellow at each level. C. Teaching: The fellow will have an active teaching role in teaching in a variety of settings (see ID, in ACGME supplement document). D. Structure of Program: The research fellow plays an integral role within a carefully planned National Center of Excellence in Research, which was established in 1998 by a grant from Emergency Medicine Foundation (EMF). The goal of the research center is to answer question related to access, utilization, cost, qualify, effectiveness and outcomes for acute and episodic illness. The Center provides an infrastructure intended to train and advance the careers of emergency medicine academicians. Teaching and training programs integral to the fellowship include: i.. The summer medical student research training program. ii. The emergency medicine residency research program. iii. The emergency medicine residency Journal Club/evidence based teaching series. iv. A yearly research symposium. Established investigators from any of the schools and divisions in JHU including the School of Public Health, School of nursing the Division of Infectious Diseases, ACCM, Critical Care/Pulmonology and other relevant departments in the SOM , function as senior mentors/advisors, bringing different orientations and expertise to the Center. The research fellow is provided with day to day mentoring from designated faculty in the Department of Emergency Medicine Monthly progress meetings include the senior advisors, the immediate faculty advisor and the research fellow. Quarterly meetings, provide a forum for the Center Director and External Advisor to critique the progress of the research fellow. Verbal feedback is provided to the fellow at the end of each quarterly meeting; in instances where sufficient progress is not being made, written feedback with a specified plan for remediation is offered. E. Hours and Supervisor: The maximum number of hours of clinical responsibility will be 18 hours per week (approximately 800 formal clinical duty hours). Clinical hours may be adjusted depending on the intensity of the research/educational experience. Level of supervision will be determined individually based on the fellows demonstrated level of autonomy. Standing programs to ensure progress, include the bimonthly research meeting, the monthly individual fellow meeting, and the quarterly assessment meeting with the Fellowship/Center Director. III. Evaluation A. Trainee: The fellow will be evaluated upon completion of the first and second year by the Fellowship Director. The participants performance will be formally reviewed by faculty advisors from both within and outside the Department of Emergency Medicine. Clinical performance will be reviewed by the Chairman of the Department of Emergency Medicine. Written feedback, which will be reviewed with the participant by the Fellowship Director, will also include evaluations by all training physicians and students who were mentored by the fellow. B.
