    We are seeking a Senior Federal Project Development Engineer to join our federal team. This role is responsible for developing comprehensive ESPC and/or UESC projects within the Federal Government marketplace. This individual will lead the development and design of innovative technical solutions that solve Federal agency and site energy-efficiency, renewable energy, energy resilience, decarbonization, facility, and operational needs and goals. This individual will possess a strong understanding of the regulatory, legislative and business environment, as well as procurement requirements unique to Federal government ESPCs and UESCs, as required to ensure that every project provides best-value to our customers. Johnson Controls Federal Systems (JCFS) is a specialized team serving as a trusted partner to the federal government. We help modernize U.S. military installations, Department of Defense and other federal agency facilities to be smarter, more resilient, efficient, sustainable, and secure. Location: Remote / Virtual (work from home) with the ability to travel as needed. Salary: $130,000 - $180,000 base salary. As a Senior Development Engineer, you will: * Provide engineering leadership and technical support for all phases of the Federal Government market ESPC / UESC process beginning with the preparation of competitive RFP responses through Contract Award and Performance Period support. * As an active participant of the account team, and jointly charged with increasing secured sales and margin metrics, this individual will be accountable for aligning Johnson Controls and specialty subcontractor capabilities into customer solutions, shortening the project development and design cycle, increasing win rates, applying appropriate solution "best practices" and minimizing development costs * Participate in the sales process by quantifying the potential opportunities and preparing technical and financial feasibility analyses. * Prepare and manage the project development plan to include scope, budget, schedule, and staffing for each phase of the development and contracting process * Lead teams of subject matter experts, development engineers, M&V engineers, and strategic partners to establish the technical solution, accurately develop it within projected costs and schedule, and provide a final solution consistent with customer's procurement process * Provide oversight and quality control and assurance of engineering development efforts. Manage, and in some cases, mentor team members in the development of large, complex technical solutions. Provide engineering and financial modeling expertise to the team throughout the development process * Validate technical and financial feasibility of the technical solution throughout the development process. Align the solution with the Federal Government buyer to ensure agency and site goals, technical guidelines, and contractual requirements are met. Monitor and mitigate project technical and financial risk in accordance with customer and Johnson Controls guidance. * Work with the sales team by positioning yourself as a trusted technical advisor to our Federal Government customer throughout the project lifecycle * Facilitate customer meetings and workshops throughout the project development process to gain incremental buy-in of the project building blocks and technical details vital to project success. * Coordinate active involvement and effective performance of engineering, project management, performance assurance (M&V), and service teams to provide smooth transition of projects between phases of the ESPC / UESC process * Engage the Johnson Controls Advanced Solutions Engineering team and other internal and external SMEs (national renewables team, lighting services, national operations, legal, contracting, risk governance, etc.) as needed to validate the technical solution and address the risk profile throughout the project development process * Network with the Director of Engineering, Director of Sales, and other Federal engineering personnel to leverage lessons learned and best practices across the organization to improve team performance - alignment of technologies with Federal agency directives and goals, increasing project bundle size, accelerating sales cycle, reducing development costs, and improvement in secured margins * Coordinate the production of deliverables with the sales and Johnson Controls proposal teams. Lead the preparation and/or compilation of proposals and reports. Ensure the technical descriptions, support documents, and financial models meet contractual requirements, customer expectations, and Johnson Controls quality standards * Understand the competitive landscape including customer drivers and competitor's specific business strategies, products and services. Utilize this data to differentiate Johnson Controls to the Federal Government customer * Actively identify and document new solution approaches and support other members of the team in exchanging knowledge and applying best practices * Participate in appropriate professional organizations and build relationships within Federal Government customer organizations * Manage multiple projects and/or opportunities at various stages of development concurrently. * Lead or participate in other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications: * Large project development engineering experience with support of high value, complex technical solution sales. 10+ years preferred. * Experience providing engineering services within the Federal Government for Energy Savings Performance Contracts (ESPC) and/or Utility Energy Service Contracts (UESC) market. Demonstrated mastery of the engineering and contracting process for these contracts, including an understanding of the submittals and levels required for project success. 5+ years preferred * Thorough understanding of design, pricing, construction processes and facility operations, with excellent knowledge of building-related systems, utility plants and renewable energy technologies. * Demonstrated experience and knowledge of the regulatory, legislative and business environment in the Federal Government vertical market. * Strong project management skills for managing large, complex and innovative development projects utilizing internal and external resources. * Experience guiding and mentoring team members, leading by example, and monitoring and coaching subcontracted technical resources, as dictated by the project scope, location, and team composition. * Excellent customer relationship, presentation and communication skills. * Proficiency in speaking to large audiences. Experience communicating with C-level customers preferred * Working knowledge of common computer applications (e.g., MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Project, eQUEST, SharePoint, etc.). * Ability to travel up to 60%. * U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain required government security clearances and/or badges as required to perform site duties. (This involves a background/character, criminal history, employment, and credit check.) About the Role We are seeking a skilled Manufacturing Optimization Engineer to join our team. This role is responsible for driving continuous improvement in manufacturing processes and ensuring the quality of raw materials, products, and production systems. The Manufacturing Optimization Engineer will support production and maintenance teams to optimize throughput, quality, and equipment availability, while also leading cost savings and process efficiency initiatives. Primary Responsibilities Identify process improvements to increase efficiency in acrylic tub and shower base manufacturing (thermoforming, fiber/resin application, trimming, assembly, packaging). Implement process modifications to enhance porcelain enamel tub production (stamping, assembly, enameling, Americast rim injection molding, packaging). Scope, plan, execute, and implement cost savings projects in acrylic and metals manufacturing areas. Optimize CNC saw programs using G-code and provide training on Fanuc robot pendent programming. Apply Lean, 6σ, 5S, Kaizen, and other continuous improvement tools to reduce waste and improve reliability. Act as a change agent to transition new products smoothly into manufacturing operations. Maintain company quality procedures, standards, and specifications with cross-functional teams. Lead and complete assigned capital projects to support manufacturing improvements. Support all plant environmental, health, and safety initiatives. Review critical-to-quality (CTQ) requirements for products and processes to meet customer, industry, and legal standards. Define and track quality metrics, implement standard work, and oversee inspections. Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for nonconforming products or raw materials. Partner closely with operations to ensure successful start-ups and management system continuity. Required Skills & Abilities Bachelor's degree in Engineering or associate's degree with equivalent experience required. 2+ years of applicable manufacturing experience required; 5+ years preferred. Lean and Six Sigma experience strongly preferred. Prior exposure to continuous improvement practices preferred. Robotic programming and G-code experience preferred. Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Why Join Us?
