Oxley joined the specialty chemicals group from KPMG, where he was a Partner. Oxley provides experience of both audit and advisory roles for large, complex, international companies across a variety of sectors, including fast-moving consumer goods, healthcare, natural resources and industrials.

Oxley has worked with major global FTSE 100 and private companies, including Johnson Matthey.

I am passionate about using science and technology to help solve some of the world's most complex challenges. Over the centuries scientific advancements have made a huge difference to our environment, both positive and negative, and my focus now is to use science to enable a cleaner and healthier world. That is what Johnson Matthey is all about.I studied chemical engineering at university and have always had a great interest in science and technology. That led me to Johnson Matthey, which I joined in June 2009 as Group Finance Director and became Chief Executive in June 2014. Previously I was Group Finance Director of the UK listed engineering consultancy company, Atkins. Previously I was at Enterprise Oil (a company that was taken over by Shell), where I worked in a variety of different roles, including a four-year assignment in Houston, Texas.I was, until April 2016, a Non-Executive Director of Aggreko and I am now a Non-Executive Director of RELX Group.Outside of work, I enjoy cycling - I recently completed an event called the Etape du Tour, which involved cycling 200 km in the Pyrenees in one day. I also enjoy golf, but get limited time to play, and rugby (but I have retired from playing now, so only watch when I can).I live in Surrey and am married with three sons.
