Since 1923, Jones Metal Products has been working with customers to produce a diverse range of formed metal products.
Jones Metal also purchased Saks Stamping and Abolite Lighting Company in the 1920s and transitioned from manufacturing enamelware pots and pans to making medical utensils and lighting reflectors used in hospitals. It was founded in 1923 by Sutton’s grandfather, Frank E. Jones, when he purchased what had been the West Lafayette Stamping and Enameling Company.
Mildred M. Jones founded Jones Sheet Metal and Roofing Company in 1942 to provide roofing services to the Mankato, Minnesota community, and to support Kato Engineering (now a division of Emerson), a company owned by her husband, Cecil H. Jones.
Cecil Jones was an inventor and successful entrepreneur (in 1952 he founded Katolight Corp., now MTU Onsite Energy/a division of Rolls-Royce) who patented numerous inventions that Jones Metal helped design and produce over the years.
After purchasing a Cincinnati hydroform machine, the company changed its focus to forming metal in 1958.
By 1960, Jones Metal had expanded its customer base to regional businesses in other industries.
