Environmental, Health and Safety Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Safety and Environmental Compliance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and maintaining compliance with all applicable occupational safety, health, and environmental regulations. This role ensures the facility operates in accordance with federal, state, and local laws, company policies, and industry standards. The supervisor leads programs that prevent injuries, protect the environment, and promote a culture of continuous safety improvement.
The primary objective of the role is to protect and enhance the safety of our employees and our Site environmental sustainability through prevention, fostering a culture of caring where safety, health and environment are set as a core value.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervise and support day-to-day implementation of safety policies, procedures, and training programs.
Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify and correct potential hazards.
Investigate incidents, near-misses, and injuries; identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
Maintain required OSHA logs and documentation (e.g., 300, 300A, 301 forms).
Support emergency preparedness plans and drills.
Oversee compliance with environmental regulations (EPA, state DEP, local authorities).
Manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste programs, including storage, labeling, and disposal.
Coordinate environmental sampling and recordkeeping (stormwater, wastewater, emissions, etc.).
Promote sustainable practices and pollution prevention initiatives.
Ensure proper use and maintenance of PPE, lockout/tagout systems, and other safety controls.
Implementation of necessary systems, processes and procedures, including management of change.

Responsible for all industrial environmental compliance reports, including but not limited to:
Air Source
Tura Report and Annual Submission
Tier 11
Stormwater
Combustible Dust Assessment
Alcohol Emission
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Strong leadership, communication, analytical, and organizational skills;
Proficiency with Microsoft Office
Bachelor's degree in environmental science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience) is preferred.
At least 2 years of safety and environmental compliance experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or similar environment; supervisory experience preferred.
OSHA 30-hour, HAZWOPER, First Aid/CPR, or similar credentials a plus.
Knowledge of
OSHA, EPA, and state environmental regulations.
Hazard communication, machine guarding, LOTO, confined space, and ergonomics programs.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the supervision of the Chief Engineer, operate boilers and all auxiliary equipment necessary for the production of steam for heat and cooling for Process Plant and facilities.
Inspect gauges, recorders and meters for safety and informational purposes. Maintain records and log of readings required for safe, efficient plant operation. Maintain and clean equipment and perform repairs as necessary.
Direct and assist the work of other plant operators. Train new plant operators within scope of current or new operating procedures, testing, new equipment, or as directed by Chief Engineer.
Test visual and audio alarms and safety valves according to established schedules and best engineering practices.
Maintain all gauges and metering controls.
Make general inspection of all equipment regularly including cooling towers and exhaust fans.
Test and treat boiler water, chilled water, tower water, city water and any other such waters as required to comply with boiler and chemical companies range of operation.
Have the ability to learn new equipment as necessary and to assist in plant repairs as needed.
Must maintain Massachusetts State License certification through continuing education as required by State regulation.
Other facilities duties as assigned in a remote monitoring environment
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have the ability to work as needed and work well in a team environment.
Must have basic MS Office Suite knowledge and attention to detail with record keeping.
Must be able to operate independently within the scope of Department policies, practices and requirements, respond to and resolve operating problems of the plant. Review unusual situations or problems with Chief Engineer.

The Food Technician is responsible for developing and maintaining finished product documentation including label & nutrition fact panel, EQA and cooking validations, and Internal and Customer spec. The Sanitation Supervisor will ensure proper function of the Sanitation Department including all activities related to the current rules and standards, process controls, regulatory, Food Safety and sanitation. The Sanitation Supervisor will be responsible for providing regular, direct and “on the floor” leadership and direction to the employees responsible for implementation of our food quality and safety programs, along with supervision of the Sanitation Department team and assuring an effective and strong audit function. The Sanitation Supervisor will also collaborate with other departments to identify, solve, and prevent problems.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee all activities necessary for the cleaning and sanitizing of production, packaging, storage areas, and production equipment on a daily basis in manufacturing facility and ensuring that all duties are performed in accordance with USDA (U.S. Department of Ag), SSOP (Standard Sanitation Operating Procedures), HACCP (Hazardous Analysis Critical Control Points), FDA (Food & Drug Administration), GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), all safety policies and procedures and any other established policies and requirements necessary.
Ensure master sanitation cleaning schedule is followed and audited to ensure proper completion.
Confers with multiple production departments to schedule sanitizing and cleaning assignments responding to reports of sanitation problems and USDA and FDA issues.
Investigates ways to reduce downtime and improve equipment and employee utilization in our continuous efforts to improve processes utilized; presents proposals to Manager for review and approval.
Manage, lead, and the supervision of sanitation employees.
Conducts performance appraisals and administer disciplinary and termination action when necessary.
Responsible for the effective utilization of employee skills development, housekeeping, safety, utilization of required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), policy administration, employee relations, scheduling cost control, and coordination of all sanitation activities with crew in facilities.

Minimum of 3 years of experience in supervision / management level responsibility (Food Industry, Consumer Products, or Dairy preferred)
Minimum of 1 year of experience in Continuous Improvement Environment (Lean Manufacturing or TPM preferred)
Bachelor's degree (Engineering, Business Management, Food Science, or Org. Leadership/Supervision preferred)

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible to know, understand, and comply with all Joseph's Pasta Good Manufacturing Practices, Food Safety, and Human Safety rules and regulations.
Adheres to and communicates all operational and/or safety issues to maintenance or operations supervision to avoid accidents and unnecessary downtime.
Required to use proper safety gear and practices when performing assigned tasks.
Conducts daily equipment inspections to ensure proper functionality. Tasks include but not limited to machine disassembly, reassembly, troubleshooting, repairs, and replacement of malfunctioning parts
Provides regulatory and preventive maintenance of machinery to improve and sustain efficiency, quality and operations.
Maintains a positive working relationship with fellow team members and other departments
Attend any training as required
Performs any other job-related duties as requested by maintenance or production supervision.

Essential Functions:
Perform machine set up and repair assembly and packaging equipment.
Perform preventative maintenance routines on all production equipment.
Install, debug and stabilize plant equipment as required.
Assist in Production/Maintenance related assignments as needed.
Communicate regarding issues and problem solve with Production staff any quality and safety concerns.
Record maintenance data as directed by the Maintenance Manager to monitor equipment performance, i.e. work orders, time cards
Identify and report equipment concerns to the Maintenance Manager.
Participate in overtime assignments as required.
Provide “on call” coverage as needed.
Perform other various similar and related duties as required by the Manager.
Qualifications:
Associates Degree in Maintenance Technology field and or equivalent Education, Experience and Training.
1-5 years manufacturing experience preferred.
Through knowledge of Maintenance jargon, Maintenance Best Practices Knowledge; OSHA, safety, etc.
Proven ability to work in a team environment
Working knowledge of GMP, OSHA and Production needs.
Work Environment: The job is performed in production areas where the person will be exposed to strong aromas, airborne dust particles emanating from ingredients being used, and will be in the presence of or otherwise operating machinery.
