Begun in 1998, the JMMH has undergone a recent revitalization and is accepting submissions for forthcoming issues.
For inclusion in the first revitalized issue, submissions should be made before March 15, 2017.
Until recently, Journalism History had no direct affiliation with an academic organization, but in 2017, members of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication’s History Division voted to adopt the journal.
Doctor Gregory Borchard at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas began his term as Journalism History editor in July 2018.
History of Media Studies is published by mediastudies.press, a scholar-led, no-fee nonprofit publisher established in 2019.
