Requirements & Skills:

Role Summary
The Retirement RFP Writer plays a strategic role in fueling the growth of National Life Group's Retirement Business. By producing high-quality, compliant, and compelling proposals, this position directly contributes to new plan acquisition, client retention, and the company's competitive positioning in the 403(b), 457(b), and institutional retirement markets.

Continue building knowledge of company offerings, tools, and retirement products to ensure alignment with business priorities.
Research, Sourcing & Business Development Support
Proactively source new RFP opportunities via websites, databases (e.g., BidPrime), and procurement platforms.
Pre-qualify RFPs to assess alignment with National Life Group's Retirement Business capabilities and strategic objectives.
Support standard proposal and marketing material development for new business pursuits or plan maintenance opportunities.
Identify trends in proposal submissions and provide insights for process improvement and strategic alignment.
Tracking, Reporting & Continuous Improvement
Report weekly progress updates and deliver monthly summaries for all in-flight and completed RFP submissions.
Ensure all proposal-related materials and responses are properly logged, archived, and accessible for future use.
Conduct post-submission reviews and “lessons learned” sessions to identify content gaps or process bottlenecks.
Implement refinements that improve quality, efficiency, and NLG's overall win rate in institutional plan acquisition.
Key Success Factors

Maintain knowledge of approved company vendors, pricing, products and services.
Maintain efficient project execution procedures to ensure 100% on-time delivery with a less than 4% error ratio.

Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience
B.A. Marketing, Communication, Journalism, Writing or equivalent work experience.
Five years of investment or annuity industry experience with a minimum of three years in RFP or investment marketing project engineering/ project management or process engineering.
Organizational skills and time management.
Effective communications skills both written and verbal for interface with Client partners, and co-worker SMEs.
Familiarity with Proposal Software and investment products in the retirement space.

The base compensation range represents the low and high end of the range for this position.
