WHAT YOU'LL DO:
* Receive assignments or evaluate news leads and news tips to develop story ideas.
* Gather and verify factual information regarding stories through interviews, observation, and research.
* Organize material, determine slant or emphasis, and write story according to prescribed editorial style and format standards.
* Shoot video and still photos to illustrate stories.
* Edit, or assists in editing, videos for all multimedia platforms.
* Appear on TV in live and pre-recorded stories.
* Work cooperatively with the photographer assigned to the story, if one is assigned.
* Assist news producer in preparing newscast.
* Assist online staff in preparing for multimedia stories.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
* BS/BA in related discipline or equivalent years of experience preferred
* Generally, 3+ years of experience in related field preferred
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
* Computer literacy required, including newsroom computer systems
* Videography and non-linear editing experience preferred
* Knowledge of broadcast-quality camera equipment
* Edit video on Final Cut Pro editing systems, or similar equipment
* Strong broadcast and AP style writing skills
* Proficient at posting content to various websites
* Self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
* Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

What you'll be doing:
Assisting with internal and external communications & public and member relations.
Reporting, writing, editing, research, proofreading, archiving and photography.
Additional opportunities may include special events planning and execution; trade show booth exhibits; website content; presentations (PowerPoint); and brochure content.
What you'll need:
Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in a communications-related field and be enrolled in school at the time of the internship.
Journalism experience preferred, including experience with AP style, interviewing and fact checking.
Excellent oral and written communication skills and computer experience with Word required.
Experience with programs such as Excel and PowerPoint desired.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Sport Management Interns will learn how to promote and operate sports leagues, camps, clinics, tournaments, and other special events. They will be immersed in the scheduling, execution, and day-to-day operations of the facility assisting in any of following areas: Events and Operations, FEC (Family Entertainment Center) and Food and Beverage. Interns will also have the opportunity to learn administrative details of a business, including human resources (staff recruiting, hiring, firing, records, etc.), payroll, profit and loss reports and analysis. Overall, Interns will gain valuable experience in the sports and recreation industry focusing on full-service entertainment.
INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW:
Interns will be cross trained in multiple areas throughout the facility, such as marketing, human resources, event management, youth programming, food and beverage, guest services, sales, and facility operations management
Will complete a summer-long internship to gain real-world experience in sports management
Some students may have longer or shorter practicum requirements with less time commitment and commitment length will be addressed individually
We will develop an intern schedule to accommodate any individual requirements (i.e., class commitments)
Interns may be required to help during special events and additional projects that are not related to their specific area
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Strong desire to learn
Ability to work in a team environment, as well as independently
Demonstrate success with multi-tasking and organizing multiple priorities
Self-motivated and has initiative to complete tasks in a timely fashion
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
