The Operating Switchgear Electricians maintain and provide for the safe condition and operation of all electrical fixtures and systems. The Electrician works underground at a depth of 400 - 800 feet. Temperatures vary. When working near the face the temperature is fairly constant approximately 55o to 60o. While working away from the face, the Electrician would encounter temperatures that would vary depending on above-ground conditions. Near the face and on the beltline there may be wet conditions. The Electrician position plans layout, installs and repairs wiring, electrical fixtures and control equipment. Purpose and Scope SUMMARY DESCRIPTION Works under general supervision to perform journeyman-level work, such as repairing and maintaining electrical wiring; evaluating layout plans and cost estimates; installing new systems; repairing existing electrical high and low voltage electrical systems; performing minor rebuilding tasks; and repairing or replacing miscellaneous equipment.
