Assist in disassembling and reassembling, inspecting, maintenance, and repairing of station transformers, circuit breakers, portable substations, rotating machinery, network protectors and transformers, air ducts and heat exchangers; install and maintain station batteries; replace nitrogen bottles and air filters.
Assist in station work such as installing conduit, pipe, cable and wire; use hand lines to pass tools and materials; dig and backfill trenches; remove and spread stone; uncrate equipment and material; install and remove portable substation fences, barriers and safety signs; paint structures and equipment; climb station structures.
Use various kinds of tapes, insulating materials, protective and insulating paints and varnishes, and understand proper application of each.
Assist in making visual inspections such as check lights, heaters, circuit breaker counters, oil levels, and bus connections; read gauges such as voltmeters, ammeters, hydrometers, pressure and level gauges; apply start-run-stop tests on emergency generators, water and sump pumps and fire engine motors. Report abnormal conditions.
Replace lamps, switches, duplex outlets, dry cells; install and maintain signal and communication systems.

The opportunity:
The Dredge Electrician reports directly to the Chief Engineer for daily duties/general maintenance and to receive direction and guidance concerning major repairs and upgrades. The Dredge Electrician is responsible for repair, troubleshooting and general and preventative maintenance of all electrical equipment aboard the vessel. They are also responsible to recommend and maintain adequate spare parts and consumable items for uninterrupted operation of all equipment as deemed prudent by Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Company and inventory these items into GLDD systems. The Dredge Electrician will work day watch and overtime as required. They work under the general administrative supervision of the Chief Engineer or, during the absence of the Chief Engineer, Assistant Engineer, Maintenance Superintendent.

Responsibilities and functions include:
Perform resistance, megger, voltage, and current tests frequently on all electrical equipment
Troubleshoot all high voltage switch board, MCC, Motor Controls issues as needed
Attend vessel related training onboard as required
Attend periodic training off site as required
Perform administrative duties, such as submitting required reports, requisitioning spare parts and needed consumables items, entering and completing Work Orders and Service Requisitions.
Submit daily and weekly reports to Chief Engineer and Electrical Superintendent
Experience required:
Must possess the ability to understand the principles of operation of an automated engine room monitoring system
4 years minimal of marine machinery and the electrical equipment

The Pictsweet Company is growing! We are currently seeking an Industrial Electrician to join our maintenance team at the Pictsweet vegetable processing facility in Monte Alto, TX. The Industrial Electrician installs and repairs electrical systems, apparatuses, and electrical components of industrial machinery and equipment.
Responsibilities
Installs power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment such as conveyors and programmable controllers.
Connects power supply wires to machines and equipment, and connects and connects cables and wires between machines and equipment.
Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, and lightening fixtures and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables.
Tests malfunctioning machinery and discusses malfunction with other maintenance workers to properly diagnose malfunction.
Replaces faulty electrical components of machinery such as relays, switches, and motors and positions sensing devices.
Replaces electric motor bearings and rewires motors.
Plans layout of wiring and installs wiring conduit and electrical apparatus in buildings.
Diagnoses and replaces faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of machines and equipment.
Follows all safety guidelines set forth by the Company.
Maintains work areas clean and organized as per monthly sanitation schedule.
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
High school diploma or GED
Vocational training a plus. Journeyman certification not necessary.
EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years industrial experience; no commercial or residential experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules/signs, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures.
OTHER:
Ability to obtain OSHA Forklift Certification
Must be able to work 12-hour shift
Must be able to work weekends; including holidays
Must be able to work rotating shifts
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out essential functions of the job.
