Job Overview Incumbent uses various tools, testing instruments and equipment to install, inspect, repair, maintain, adjust and troubleshoot various pieces of electrical equipment to include the following: common electrical, low voltage, to include 115/120V, 220/230/240V, 208V, 277V, 460/480V, single or three phase, 60Hz; wiring, raceways (conduit), conduit fittings, conduit supports and hangers, electrical boxes and covers, pull boxes, safety disconnects, panelboards and circuit breakers, grounding, electrical devices (switches and receptacles and cover plates), fuses, cable trays, interior and exterior lighting, controls, motors, ballasts, relays, starters, variable frequency drives, capacitors, contractors, transformers, etc. Pay Rate: $32.89/hr Work Model: Onsite Responsibilities Essential Duties & Job Functions: * Performs a variety of electrical trade functions such as the installation, maintenance, or repair of equipment for the generation, distribution, or utilization of electric energy. * Installs or repairs any of a variety of electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, or other transmission equipment. * Works from construction drawings, layouts, or other specifications. * Locates and diagnoses trouble in the electrical system or equipment. * Works standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment. * Uses a variety of electrician's hand tools and measuring and testing instruments. * Work of the maintenance electrician requires rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience. * Troubleshoots and evaluates electrical systems. * Performs other related duties as assigned. Job Requirements Mandatory: * Three (3) years' experience in electrical maintenance work. * Ability to read construction drawings, bend conduits, troubleshoot, repair motors and controls, and install and repair AC and DC equipment. * Ability to demonstrate a thorough knowledge of switches, transformers, and transformer hook‑ups. * Ability to complete OSHA 30-Hour Training for General Industry within 120-calendar days of hire. * Must have ability to work on electrical equipment located at various heights * Must have and maintain hand tools of the trade to perform the normal work of the classifications. * Ability to troubleshoot equipment. * Ability to meet and maintain company physical and security requirements, including respirator qualification, and clearance eligibility when required. * Must possess good communication skills for a service team environment. * Valid class C state driver's license with acceptable driving record. * Ability to successfully pass any background checks and/or drug testing required on the contract. * Must possess the ability to perform assigned work tasks without more than normal supervision. * Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional and courteous manner in diversified situations. * U.S. Citizenship. Serving people of all abilities in their life's journey is at the heart of what we do. **What You'll Do as Electrician I:** + Support government tool service trucks and schedule tool trucks for support of minor Fleet maintenance i.e., hose repair, corrosion control, small tool issue etc. + Assists in keeping an accurate inventory of tools checked out to the Fleet home. + Assist in accumulation and delivering of Calibrated Equipment to the CAL Lab. + Assist in maintaining an accurate inventory of tools checked out to the Fleet home ported in San Diego, including transportation and welding facilities. + Provide proper usage of tools to ship's force personnel to include tool preparation safety features/devices, environmental safety measures and proper operation. + Assist in checking out tools to ship's force personnel on an on-loan basis. + Assists in maintaining a detailed inventory of equipment checked out and a continuous chain of custody utilizing an excel format spreadsheet inventory form. + Responsible for working with command to obtain authorization for individuals who can be authorized to check-out tools, maintain database of authorizations. + Thoroughly inspect tools upon return for damages or signs of degradation. + Perform preventative maintenance and repairs or recommend replacement on all express tool service equipment (i.e., needle guns, electric drills, impact wrenches etc.) as necessary to the SWRMC Facilities Manager. + Support ship's force to identify and recommend procurement of new or improved tools and labor-saving devices that will enhance productivity of ships force maintenance. + Ensure the government vehicles (i.e. Tool Trucks) are secured by the SWRMC transportation ship as needed. + Issue daily tool inventory & equipment + Maintain and issue hazmat, recollect unused hazmat, and collect hazmat waste (i.e., oils, grease, paint etc.) for disposal IAW SWRMCINST 5090.1A Management of Navy generated Hazardous Waste and Disposal Control. + Coordinate and set up electrical equipment for Command events. + Disassemble/Reassemble tools.
