Electrician Salary:45.90/hr **UNION PLANT** Shift: 3rd shift This position will trouble-shoot, repair, program, replace, maintain, and install electrical/electronic systems for production related equipment and building utilities within this high-speed state-of-the-art metal packaging manufacturing facility. Equipment includes packaging machinery. Responsibilities include following all local, state and federal electrical codes. Documentation of problems and maintenance of equipment and facility systems are also required. This position will also provide training for equipment operation and safety precautions. Responsibilities also include installing and maintaining new and existing electrical wiring within the facility. Job Requirements A high school graduate or equivalent with 4+ years working experience in a manufacturing setting (high-speed manufacturing is preferred). An Associates/technical degree is preferred or a related vocational/technical certification (state electrical license, journeyman license, etc.). Knowledge of Allen Bradley/Omron/Direct Logic PLC's are required as well as integrated Window software to analyze AC/DC, single phase and 3 phase generators and AC/DC motors, relays, switches, breaker transformers, and power panels. Knowledge of single and 3-phase up to 440 volts. This position also requires the individual to be able to read and interpret mechanical blueprints, electrical schematics, and parts specifications. The Senior Electrician supports both foundry and machining operations by performing advanced maintenance and repair of electrical, PLC, robotic, CNC, and automation systems. This role emphasizes safe practices, expert troubleshooting, and independent execution of complex technical tasks. The Senior Electrician is expected to apply strong technical knowledge, mentor junior staff, and contribute to efficient and reliable plant operations. Key Responsibilities · Work safely with 24VDC, 120VAC, 480VAC, and 13.8kVA systems. · Use multimeters and other diagnostic equipment. · Rack the breakers for the plant's main substation as required. · Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical components of foundry and machining equipment, including furnaces, conveyors, sand systems, mold-making machines, casting equipment, lathes, drills, mills, CNCs, and robotics. Installation & Wiring · Lead installation, wiring, and repairs of motors, drives, sensors, relays, and control systems. · Install, configure, and maintain Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs). · Install and troubleshoot soft starts for motor applications. · Work with 4-20mA analog devices for process control. · Bend and install rigid conduit for new or modified systems. · Build and modify electrical panels and control systems as needed. Troubleshooting & Diagnostics · Independently troubleshoot and repair electrical, PLC, CNC, and robotic systems to minimize downtime. · Connect to and navigate PLC programs at the PLC or over the network. · Perform minor PLC program changes such as toggling bits, forcing inputs/outputs, or adding jumper logic. · Jog robots and move CNC equipment safely without assistance. · Review robot programs and follow program movements step-by-step in single-step mode. · Read, interpret, and update electrical schematics and technical documents. Maintenance & Safety · Conduct advanced inspections, identify root causes of issues, and implement corrective actions. · Perform preventive maintenance tasks and ensure documentation in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). · Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, NEC, and company safety standards, including proper PPE usage. · Support emergency electrical and automation system repairs to minimize production disruptions. · Provide guidance and mentoring to Junior Electricians and maintenance staff. Automation Machine Tool Electricians needed at The Large Power Systems Division located in Lafayette, IN. Responsibility to electrically troubleshoot and repair complex domestic and foreign machine tools and related equipment. Applicant must possess the ability to troubleshoot and repair CNC, PLC, and relay logic-controlled machines. Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: * Knowledge and experience repairing on or more of the following types of equipment: Okuma, G&L, Mazak, Lamb, Landis (grinders), Waldrich Coburg, Ingersoll, Toyoda, DMG Mori and a variety of other machines in a large industrial machine shop. * Examples of related equipment to be repaired: P&H cranes and hoists, conveyors, furnaces, large part washers, ABB robots, CNC machine tools and other equipment in a large industrial machine shop. * Examples of machine controllers to be repaired: CNC and PLC equipment with Fanuc, Siemens, Allen Bradley, Modicon, Indramat, and a variety of other controllers on the machines in the machine shop. * AC/DC analog and digital drives, including Siemens, Allen Bradley, Modicon, Indramat, and various other drives. * Examples of measurement and feedback scale and encoder systems, including Heidenhain, inductosyn, and various other feedback devices. * Applicant must possess basic mechanical skills and the ability to operate basic tools to complete the job. * Seeking a team-oriented individual with a positive attitude, good work ethic, with personal initiative and self-motivation. * Applicant must be willing to work overtime opportunities to support production demands. Basic Qualifications: * Minimum of 3 years' experience in the electrical repair of machine tools and related equipment, including experience with the following: * Okuma, G&L, Mazak, Lamb, Landis (grinders), Waldrich Coburg, Ingersoll, Toyoda, and a variety of others in the machine shop. * P&H cranes and hoists, conveyors, furnaces, washers, ABB robots. * Experience with troubleshooting and repairing relay log machines and CNC/PLC controlled machines, including: * CNC and PLC controlled equipment with Fanuc, Siemens, Allen Bradley, Modicon. * Indramat, and a variety of other controllers on the machines in the machine shop. * Experience with AC/DC analog and digital drives, including: * Siemens, Allen Bradley, Modicon, Indramat, and various other drives. * Ability to demonstrate intermediate or higher proficiency in readying and interpreting machine tool prints/schematics * Basic mechanical skills * Ability to operate basic tools to complete the job * Self-starter and self-motivated individual who works well individually in a team environment.
