Position Summary:
The Head Electrician reports to the Director of Production and oversees the Electrics Department of the Jacobs Music Center within the context of the Collective Bargaining Agreements between San Diego Symphony Orchestra Association and IATSE Local 122. The Head Electrician works on all productions, supervising the implementation, operation, and maintenance of lighting equipment and leading crew members during load-ins, technical rehearsals, show runs, and loadouts. The Head Electrician also serves as either the Lighting Board Operator, Deck Electrician and/or Lighting Designer on all performances as assigned and assists other departments in their duties as needed.
This is a union stage crew role. Any successful candidate will be required to join IATSE Local 122 and fulfil membership requirements.
This is an hourly position (currently $41.39). The wages, conditions, and terms of which are governed by a Collective Bargaining Agreement with IATSE Local 122.

**What You'll Do as Electrician I:**
+ Installs, inspects, adjusts, test, maintains and repairs electrical wiring systems, related switches, distribution panels and outlet boxes and a wide variety of electrical fixtures.
+ Electrical equipment that will require maintenance and repair include electrical switch boxes, lighting circuits, branch and transfer circuits, HVAC fans and switches, fire alarm systems, rheostats, and related shop equipment.
+ Will be required to measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble and install conduit, inserts, splicing and connecting wire to fixtures, outlets, switches receptacles and power sources.
+ The electrician will be responsible for all assigned preventive maintenance work orders assigned by the PM Manager.
+ Assists in the accomplishment of minor building maintenance tasks which must be performed to proficiency.
+ On-call for after-hours emergency calls.
+ All other duties as assigned.
+ Operates a company-owned vehicle (and cellular telephone) to transport self and others in performance of assigned duties; performs operator maintenance as required.

**What You'll Need to Be Successful:**
+ Requires High School Diploma or GED.
+ Graduation from an accredited apprenticeship program.
+ Minimum four (4) years recent/relevant experience as a maintenance electrician with a working knowledge of all national, state and local electrical codes.
**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:**
+ Must have experience in installation, troubleshooting, testing, repair and maintenance of all electrical systems and devices including low and high voltage systems.
+ Must be willing and able to successfully and safely wear all protective gear, respirators as required by PCSI and all federal, state and local regulations.
+ Knowledge of methods, materials and equipment used in the various areas of assignment and use of required tools.
+ Ability to plan, direct, and perform work independently.
+ Ability to work safely and follow prescribed guidelines.
+ Ability to read electrical schematics and blue prints.
+ Mathematical and analytical skills.
+ Able to effectively read, write, and speak the English language.
+ Must be able to interact and communicate orally and in written format with individuals at all levels of the organization.
+ Requires the ability to walk, stand, stoop, bend and climb (e.g., ladders, stairs) for extended/repetitive periods, and carry loads weighing over 50 pounds.
**Other Requirements:**
+ Ability to pass criminal, drug, and driving screening.
+ Exposure to dirt, dust, loud noise, and outside weather conditions.
+ Ability to work any time or day of the week, including weekends and holidays.
+ Possess valid driver's license and maintain good driving record.
+ Ability to obtain and maintain a NACI clearance.
