Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following: * Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair complex electrical and fiber optic systems and related components. * Maintain and repair airfield lighting electrical systems and associated navigational aids in compliance with FAA regulations. * Interpret and apply the National Electrical Code (NEC), all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, OSHA and Cal OSHA requirements, and NFPA 70E electrical safety standards. * Read and interpret plans, blueprints, and specifications; maintain accurate records; and estimate labor, time, and material requirements. * Initiate and issue switching orders and electrical clearances in accordance with lockout/tagout (LOTO) policies and procedures. * Conduct routine inspections of electrical systems and associated equipment. * Participate in electrical and safety training programs, including emergency procedures and equipment operation. * Perform preventive maintenance, including inspection, cleaning, analysis, adjustment, and repair of electrical systems. * Conduct operational tests, voltage checks, power-quality analysis, and perform test runs and system checks on backup diesel generators. * Use computer software and diagnostic programs competently. * Inspect, maintain, and document results from airfield lighting power regulators. * Safely operate City vehicles and equipment. Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED equivalent, and two (2) years of journey-level experience as a commercial/industrial electrician, supplemented by successful completion of a recognized electrician apprenticeship program. Electrical and mechanical maintenance experience involving electrical distribution systems and high/low voltage systems is preferred. Instrumentation and programmable logic controllers (PLC)/remote terminal units (RTU) experience is highly desirable. License(s)/Certifications: * Must possess a valid California Class "C" driver's license at the time of hire and maintain it throughout employment. * Journeyman Electrician's Certificate or State of California Electrical Contractor's License may substitute for successful completion of a recognized electrician apprenticeship program. * Must be able to obtain an airport access badge with airfield-driving privileges within 90 days of appointment. Knowledge of: * Electrical theory and the methods, equipment, tools, and materials used in electrical and mechanical maintenance. * Occupational hazards and required safety precautions associated with electrical work. * Applicable codes and regulations, including: * National Electrical Code (NEC) * Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Cal OSHA requirements. * FAA airport electrical rules and regulations. * NFPA 70E Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace. * Relevant federal, state, and local laws and regulations governing electrical systems and workplace safety. Skill and Ability to: * Exercise initiative, discretion, and judgment within established guidelines. * Analyze problems, evaluate facts, and reach valid conclusions. * Manage situations requiring diplomacy, fairness, firmness, and sound judgment. * Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues using appropriate tools and equipment. * Operate aerial lift equipment, electrical meters, and diagnostic testing devices. * Read and interpret blueprints and schematic diagrams. * Maintain accurate records and documentation. * Use standard and specialized electrical devices or equipment such as voltmeter, amp, meter, ohmmeter, megohmmeter, and other tools used to test electrical flow and connectivity. * Deal courteously and professionally with the public and coordinate switching with customers. * Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work, including City and government officials, community groups, coworkers, and the public. * Apply safe work practices. Work is performed indoors and outdoors under varying environmental conditions, including exposure to extreme temperatures, noise, vibration, fumes, odors, dust, and moving machinery. Incumbents must be able to perform strenuous physical tasks on a regular basis. Physical demands include sitting, standing, walking, reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, as well as occasional heavy lifting of up to 100 pounds. Duties require climbing ladders, working at heights, and entering confined spaces. The position requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with NFPA 70E and OSHA regulations and involves exposure to electrical hazards. Vision requirements include close and distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, color differentiation, and the ability to adjust focus. The incumbent must be able to hear within the normal range, with or without correction. The position may require working long hours, overtime, weekends, holidays, nights, and irregular schedules. The incumbent must have the stamina to meet these demands and will be required to participate in the standby/on-call emergency response rotation, including responding to callouts and emergencies during non-duty hours, weeknights, weekends, and holidays.

Job Title: Maintenance Electrician Duration: Contract 4 Months, Possible to Direct Shift: 6:00 A.M. - 2:30 P.M. Responsibilities: Under general direction, is responsible for repairing, maintaining and installing all types of electrical systems for production equipment, support equipment, and facilities. Ensures work performed is in compliance with National Electrical Code and OSHA regulations. Reviews work orders and determines electrical modifications per specifications. Performs preventative maintenance and maintains a clean and safe work area. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested First shift, but flexibility is preferred. On call one week per month for emergency maintenance.
