Austin Industrial is currently seeking an Electrician to join our staff located at La Porte, TX . They must be able to assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools. Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem. This is accomplished by performing the following essential duties and responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned. Specific Duties and Responsibilities: Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components. Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes. Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous. Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system. Maintain current electrician's license or identification card to meet state regulations. Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes. Direct and train workers to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures. Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring and equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes. Use a variety of tools and equipment such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment including oscilloscopes, ammeters, and test lamps. Install ground leads and connect power cables to equipment, such as motors. Perform business management duties such as maintaining records and files, preparing reports and ordering supplies and equipment. Repair or replace wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools. Work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures. Place conduit (pipes or tubing) inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes. Construct and fabricate parts, using hand tools and specifications. Fasten small metal or plastic boxes to walls to house electrical switches or outlets. Perform physically demanding tasks, such as digging trenches to lay conduit and moving and lifting heavy objects. Provide preliminary sketches and cost estimates for materials and services. Aid during emergencies by operating floodlights and generators, placing flares, and driving needed vehicles. Other duties as assigned. Responsibilities Position Summary: Performs a variety of electrical trade functions including the maintenance, repair, Installation, and modification of equipment for the distribution and utilization of electrical energy, to include kitchen equipment commercial appliances. Job Requirements Essential Duties & Job Functions: * Maintains, repairs, installs, modifies, troubleshoots, loads, and tests new and installed electrical equipment and components including secondary distribution lines and circuits used to supply distribution panels, switch gear, power and control circuits, motors, multiphasealternating current circuits, wiring systems, industrial complexes, and buildings, high intensity lighting systems, and related equipment. * Plans and determines the routing, placement, type, size, gauge, balance, load, continuity, and safe operation of electrical lines, circuits systems, equipment, and controls, working from building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, layouts, engineering drawings, and maintenance and repair manuals. * Determines size, type, and gauge of wiring, coupling, straps, conduits, etc. to install electrical circuits, equipment, and components. * Utilize various conduit systems to include PVC, flexible, rigid, and electrical metallic tubing. * Locating and diagnosing trouble in the electrical system or equipment. * Working standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment. * Use a variety of electrician's hand tools measuring and testing instruments. * Use portable radios to communicate with supervisors, and service call desk. * Required to stay knowledgeable with the latest software programs such as NexGen, CEMS, etc. as well as any electronic devices to include computers, tablets, scanners, etc. * Determines materials needed for repair work and prepares bill of Material (BOM). * Responsible for timely reporting of accidents, injuries, and hazardous situations. * Perform all other work-related duties as assigned. Mandatory: * Valid Journeyman or Master Electrician License. * Must be able to climb ladders, scaffolds, and walkways; be able to complete assigned tasks in high or confined spaces. * High School graduate or equivalent. * 2+ years of experience in electrical field. * Knowledge of communications, and grounding systems. * Strong working knowledge of electrical field and tools. * Ability to utilize computer automated systems to perform assigned duties. * Able to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted, heavier items with assistance. * Able to sit, stand, walk, drive, kneel, squat, bend, crawl, stoop, reach, climb ladders, work in tight spaces. * Possess good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to handle tools and components precisely. * Comfortable working in extreme temperatures. * Valid driver's license. Accountable for: * Timely completion and accuracy of all work. * Working closely and harmoniously with other employees. * Accountable for following Chugach's Code of Ethics and core values. * Adherence to contract requirements, safety and health regulations, and company policies.
