The Opportunity:
We are searching for a skilled Industrial Electrician to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and mechanical industrial equipment in our corrugated packaging plant in Springfield, MA. The successful candidate will be qualified to troubleshoot and repair both electrical and mechanical components on large scale production machinery, participate in PMs, support continuous improvement initiatives, and adhere to all safety regulations. You will provide resolutions to mechanical and electrical problems on a wide variety of paper and packaging machinery to keep our plant running at peak performance.

How You Will Impact Smurfit Westrock:
Focus on maintaining equipment in working order through preventive maintenance and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical failures in a fast-paced environment.
Enforce plant safety regulations and encourage employees to become safety conscious.
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on electrical equipment, including motors, motor control centers (MCCs), transformers, switches, and wiring.
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electrical faults in complex machinery such as corrugators, printing presses, die cutters, and material handling systems.
Troubleshoot and maintain Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens) and Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs).
Install, maintain, and calibrate various sensors, transducers, and measuring instruments.
Ensure all electrical installations and repairs comply with the National Electrical Code (NEC), local codes, and company standards.
Strictly adhere to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and other plant safety policies.
Maintain and repair high-voltage equipment and control systems.
Keep accurate records of all maintenance work performed, parts used, and system documentation.
Assist with the installation and commissioning of new production equipment and control systems.
Collaborate with mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic technicians to resolve complex operational issues.
Participate in root cause analysis of failures to implement corrective actions and improve machine reliability.
Provide support for mechanical maintenance tasks as needed to ensure production uptime including predictive and preventative maintenance.
What You Need to Succeed:
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an Industrial Electrician, preferably in a manufacturing environment (corrugated, paper, or heavy industry experience is a significant plus).
Proven experience working with 480V three-phase systems and various control voltages.
Proficiency with electrical test equipment (e.g., multimeters, ammeters, megohmmeters).
Expert knowledge of electrical schematics, blueprints, and wiring diagrams.
Strong aptitude for troubleshooting and programming PLCs and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
Massachusetts Electrical license or the equivalent certification
Willingness to work on both mechanical and electrical projects.
Excellent safety awareness and commitment to safe work practices.
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and handle emergency repairs under pressure.
Excellent communication skills
High School Diploma or equivalent required; college degree or technical certification is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, climb, and lift up to 50 lbs. regularly.
Ability to work in a loud, fast-paced industrial environment, which may include exposure to heat, dust, and chemicals.
This role is primarily the first shift; however, the successful candidate must be willing to work shifts, weekends, and on-call as required to support operations.
The starting rate is $34-40 per hour based on experience, depending on your role, level, and location. The Journeyman Refrigeration is responsible for installation of refrigeration systems following customer specifications, applicable building code and proper piping practices.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Provides support on construction job by piping cooler boxes and refrigeration cases, including electrical wiring as required to complete the project.
· Provides the required installation of pipe hangers as directed by the foreman.

Work Environment
This job typically operates in convenience stores, grocery stores, food service and/or construction environment with need to work at heights from ladders and/or Scissor lifts. Mechanical rooms can have elevated noise levels. The position regularly works near/with refrigeration/HVAC equipment that can expose the workers to extreme cold from refrigerant and high heat from brazing operations. This role routinely works in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust. These conditions require employees to use the correct PPE and safe work practices.
Physical Demands
This position is very active and requires excellent stamina to perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. Employees are regularly required to walk and stand for long periods, hear, drive, sit, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, climb, use hands and fingers, and lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

SCOPE OF DUTIES
Under the direction of the Facilities Manager, is responsible for assessing and maintaining electrical components. The Electrician will be expected to identify any current concerns/issues and implement corrective actions in accordance with the safety standards and regulations of the National Electrical Code.
PRIMARY DUTIES
Ability to look at electrical blueprints and scan them for issues/concerns.
Ability to assess electrical grids and evaluate them for any problems to ensure correct installation.
Ability to identify issues and make corrective measures to fix problems with electrical components.
Install safety and distribution components (e.g. switches, resistors, circuit-breaker panels).
Prevent breakdown of systems by routinely inspecting and replacing old wiring and insulated cables, cleaning circuits, etc.
Perform effective troubleshooting to identify hazards or malfunctions and repair or substitute damaged units.
Ability to utilize testing devices to identify and report electrical problems.
Monthly inspections of Building Electrical Systems including Emergency, exit lighting and Gfi receptacles.

About the role
Position Description: We seek a dedicated individual who will safely work as part of a small team to maintain all phases of electrical switch gear, both high and low voltage, as well as all electrical equipment throughout the plant. Must be able to communicate well with groups or individuals to solve problems. Must be a self-starter and able to prioritize work based on plant production requirements. Work independently with minimal assistance and understands safety procedures of electrical equipment.
This individual will participate in daily preventative, scheduled, and corrective maintenance activities in a safe, effective, and timely manner related to an electrical generation facility. The Electrician will also perform maintenance work related to the boilers and its associated electrical equipment. This includes preventative, corrective, emergency, warranty service, etc. throughout the facility. The Electrician will identify repairs and documents electrical equipment malfunctions and installs and tests new equipment in accordance with safety standards.
Other functions will include preventative maintenance as well as troubleshooting and repair of circuit breakers, motor control centers, generator, transformers, electrical metering, and protective relays and devices. The Electrician will also be capable of testing and troubleshooting AC and DC electrical circuits, motors, circuit breakers, protective relays and other related devices.
Perform preventative maintenance on all plant electrical equipment is essential as well as writing comprehensive logs, reports, and procedure manuals. Conducts preventative analysis of electrical systems and equipment updates. Reading, interpreting, and utilizing equipment manuals for technical clarification and requisitioning parts and material is required. The employee will be required to use computer-based programming to access work orders, for both corrective and preventative tasks.
Position Requirements: To be considered for this position the individual must have at least five years' experience as maintenance electrician in a power plant other industrial type setting, along with a High School/GED diploma and a valid Driver's License. Must have electrical journeyman's license or strong apprentice training experience.

P&IDs, schematics and equipment manual for electrical equipment installation, trouble shooting, and programming
Must be capable of working at high elevations

While performing the duties of this job, the employee periodically enters and inspects various plant areas with rotating machinery; is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; precarious places; confined spaces; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock and vibration.
Must be able to work in all locations within the plant, under extremes of hot and cold, and in areas of dust, noise and wet conditions. Must be able to climb a ladder to access equipment and work from heights using fall protection, lift heavy objects up to 50 lbs. and other manual labor to including pushing, pulling, sweeping and shoveling.

We are searching for a skilled Industrial Electrician to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and mechanical industrial equipment in our corrugated packaging plant in Springfield, MA. The successful candidate will be qualified to troubleshoot and repair both electrical and mechanical components on large scale production machinery, participate in PMs, support continuous improvement initiatives, and adhere to all safety regulations. You will provide resolutions to mechanical and electrical problems on a wide variety of paper and packaging machinery to keep our plant running at peak performance.

How You Will Impact Smurfit Westrock:
Focus on maintaining equipment in working order through preventive maintenance and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical failures in a fast-paced environment.
Enforce plant safety regulations and encourage employees to become safety conscious.
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on electrical equipment, including motors, motor control centers (MCCs), transformers, switches, and wiring.
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electrical faults in complex machinery such as corrugators, printing presses, die cutters, and material handling systems.
Troubleshoot and maintain Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens) and Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs).
Install, maintain, and calibrate various sensors, transducers, and measuring instruments.
Ensure all electrical installations and repairs comply with the National Electrical Code (NEC), local codes, and company standards.
Strictly adhere to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and other plant safety policies.
Maintain and repair high-voltage equipment and control systems.
Keep accurate records of all maintenance work performed, parts used, and system documentation.
Assist with the installation and commissioning of new production equipment and control systems.
Collaborate with mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic technicians to resolve complex operational issues.
Participate in root cause analysis of failures to implement corrective actions and improve machine reliability.
Provide support for mechanical maintenance tasks as needed to ensure production uptime including predictive and preventative maintenance.
What You Need to Succeed:
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an Industrial Electrician, preferably in a manufacturing environment (corrugated, paper, or heavy industry experience is a significant plus).
Proven experience working with 480V three-phase systems and various control voltages.
Proficiency with electrical test equipment (e.g., multimeters, ammeters, megohmmeters).
Expert knowledge of electrical schematics, blueprints, and wiring diagrams.
Strong aptitude for troubleshooting and programming PLCs and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
Massachusetts Electrical license or the equivalent certification
Willingness to work on both mechanical and electrical projects.
Excellent safety awareness and commitment to safe work practices.
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and handle emergency repairs under pressure.
Excellent communication skills
High School Diploma or equivalent required; college degree or technical certification is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, climb, and lift up to 50 lbs. regularly.
Ability to work in a loud, fast-paced industrial environment, which may include exposure to heat, dust, and chemicals.
This role is primarily the first shift; however, the successful candidate must be willing to work shifts, weekends, and on-call as required to support operations.
The starting rate is$34-40 per hour based on experience, depending on your role, level, and location.
