Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The essential duties and responsibilities of this job are included but not limited to this job description - other tasks may be assigned and expected to be performed. Plan, layout, and perform all required operations in the installation, maintenance and repair of all electrical service, equipment and wiring used in various plant departments or offices, such as motors, generators, switch board, lighting and power circuits, starters, cranes, hoists, and other similar auxiliary equipment. Disassemble ordinary units, determine extent of troubles, repair or replace defective parts or wiring, and reassemble. Install computer or numerical controlled equipment, troubleshoot and diagnose problems, determine the extent of the trouble and remedy the problem. Disassemble, clean and repair motors and reassemble. Make connections for proper field, forward and reverse rotation motors, in series with D. C. motors and induction A. C. motors. Install and wire motors and mechanisms for machine tools such as lathes, fabricating equipment, punch presses, heat treating equipment including controls and transformers. Install all types of circuits. Detect faulty operation and defective material, diagnose and remedy trouble. Refer unusual problems to the Supervisor and make recommendations regarding improvements to equipment. Periodically inspect electrical equipment apparatus for electrical trouble or preventive maintenance. Maintain the work area in a clean and orderly manner and perform other similar and associated duties as required. Perform a variety of other maintenance duties, under the supervision and direction of the department foreman or other appropriate supervision. Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent. Massachusetts Journeyman Electrician License. 5+ years of Industrial experience. Use shop arithmetic, work from wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, and floor layouts. Use electrical measuring instruments. Knowledge of the application and use of electrical formulas, fundamentals of electricity, operation of electrical equipment and electrical code requirements for wiring, and installation. Self-motivated to take ownership of work schedule and quality. Continuous improvement: Willing to accept change to support being a Fast - Flexible - Efficient section. SKILLS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Valid State of CT E2 Electrical License High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required Minimum 2 years related work experience to include industrial environment Working knowledge of electrical systems Ability to read and comprehend complicated blueprints, drawings, schematics, specifications, codes, electrical formulas, and handbooks Must be familiar with the National Electric Codes, electrical theory, and be comfortable working with high voltage three phase circuits, generators, transformers, switchgear Ability to use various testing devices related to the electrical and mechanical trades Ability to work on several projects simultaneously and prioritize work, as required Must have a current valid driver's license Working knowledge of Microsoft computer applications used for compiling data and work records Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to function as a team member in a demanding service environment Ability to communicate with customers at all levels of the organization in a professional, effective manner.
