* During the first six months in this classification, shall be capable of working on conductors and equipment energized up to 260 volts under general supervision.
* Assist with work on conductors and equipment energized at secondary voltages to 600 volts under immediate supervision of higher classification.
* After six months in this classification, shall be capable of working on conductors and equipment energized up to 600 volts under general supervision.
* Use volt-amp meters, ground meggers, continuity testers and other electrical test equipment associated with line work on voltages up to 600 volts.
* Apply various kinds of insulating protective equipment on facilities energized only at voltage qualified to work on.
* Under direct supervision, the employee may operate cutouts, line switches, reclosers, and other sectionalizing devices, refuse line and transformer devices, test de-energized lines and equipment, and place or remove grounds.

Maintenance and Repair:
* Install and repair wiring, electrical fixtures, power equipment, control and distribution apparatus, and components of machinery and equipment following electrical code, manuals, specifications, schematics, and blueprints.
* Diagnose and resolve problems in electrical circuits, systems, and equipment and test continuity of circuits to ensure compatibility and safety of components.
* Install and connect power supply wiring, cables, conduit, and electrical apparatus for machines and equipment in new and existing facilities following diagrams, schematics, or blueprints.
* Measure, assemble, and install electrical conduit using measuring devices, hand tools, pipe threader, and conduit bender.
* Detect needed repairs on buildings, grounds, and equipment following established inspection procedures.
* Repair or recommend replacement of electrical appliances, including commercial ovens, ranges, steam tables, washers, and dryers.
* Receive and complete work orders in a timely manner. Select material and hardware and calculate time and materials estimates. Maintain accurate records on material and labor used.
* Maintain inventory of district-owned tools, equipment, and materials.
* Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean.
* Work with building principals and supervisors to schedule and complete projects.
* Respond to emergency calls as needed.
Safety:
* Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting and climbing. Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
* Correct unsafe conditions in work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.

II. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
A. Reports to: Lineman B or Lineman A respectfully.
III. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Installs and services security lights and related equipment with or without Lineman B or Lineman A.
B. With the Lineman B or Lineman A, performs all necessary activities to maintain and repair energized and de-energized overhead and underground distribution lines, switching structure, breakers, take-off assemblies, services, regulators, and transformers.
C. Keeps informed as to the direction of the line feeds, locations of reclosing and switching devices.
D. Patrols the lines and checks for defective materials, equipment or unsafe conditions and notifies the supervisor of problem areas.
E. Is familiar with the considerable hazards that exist, including falls, electric shock, electric flash, automobile traffic, and falling objects. Understands and uses proper safety and protective equipment.
F. Performs, as needed, all the duties of groundman, equipment operator, and lineman/serviceman. Sees that trucks, tools, and assigned equipment are properly used and kept in good working order.
G. Reads, connects, and disconnects meters. Completes necessary paperwork.
H. Inspects the service entrance, including switch box and other protective equipment, on all new or rewired structures, prior to rendering service to ensure conformance with the National Electric Safety Code and Magic Valley Electric Cooperative's wiring requirements.

Required Skills
Equipment Operated: Must be able to operate assigned equipment including bucket trucks, forklifts, backhoe, trencher, winches, drills, chainsaws, and high compression tools. Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Texas commercial driver''s license. Must learn to operate primary and secondary fault and cable locators, digger derricks.
Abilities and Skills: Must be able to perform the activities necessary to complete work assignments described in the position description. Must be able to climb poles and be certified as a climber before the three month probation period is over. Must be able to perform pole top rescue.
Physical Effort: Under the direction of the serviceman or construction lineman, this position climbs poles and/or stands in hydraulic bucket to work at heights installing transformers on line of up to 70 feet, often working in awkward positions. Frequently lifts materials and equipment weighting up to fifty pounds. Occasionally lifts items that weigh up to 100 pounds. Shovels dirt, works around noisy equipment and visually inspects work for safe connections. Works with energized lines that must be handled according to National Electrical Safety Code specifications to avoid electric shock. Some activities may be performed on uneven surfaces. Excellent hand-eye coordination is required.
Working Conditions: This position's activities call for outside work in all kinds of weather. This may be required approximately 90 percent of the time with irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays. Overtime is required. This position serves on-call rotation as assigned.

Safely construct, replace, repair, and perform maintenance of electric distribution lines, structures, and equipment.
Investigate trouble on lines and locate cause of power outages.

Install meter and transformer pads.

Assist in digging and tamping pole holes; load, unload, set and remove poles.
Conduct line patrol activities and report maintenance needs, as necessary.
Must be able to operate vehicles and heavy equipment including line trucks, boom trucks, underground trenchers, and digger trucks, and other associated equipment in a safe and proficient manner.
Set up and remove barricades, flags, and signs for traffic control and work zone protection in compliance with safety procedures at all job sites.

Must possess knowledge of RUS line specifications, National Electric Code, National Electric Safety Code, and OSHA Rules and Regulations. Prior experience in basic technical utility knowledge is required.
Abilities and Skills:
Must possess a valid Texas CDL (class A) license with a good driving record.
Must be able to communicate in English, both in written and oral forms with the general public and co-workers.
