MEI is tasked daily with moving heavy, expensive, and many times highly sensitive, equipment in construction and operating facility environments for customers both large and small. The Rigging Apprenticeship Program has been developed by industry experts and is designed to teach the core rigging skills necessary for individuals without any knowledge of the machinery moving industry or without rigging skills to start a fulfilling career as a skilled Rigger with opportunities to advance and grow in the industry through targeted skills development and training oversight. Courses include hands-on training, activities, and assessments, which may be conducted in lab or field environments. Upon completing this multi-phase program, participants will have gained the proficiency in the knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) necessary to perform in various Machinery Moving/Rigging positions. Skill Topics Included in the Program Physical Requirements & Working Conditions: Performing General Physical Activities -- Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials up to 50 pounds. Must be willing to work in an outdoor environment year-round. Other Requirements: Must be able to work in a highly functioning team environment. The Electrician will plan and install conduit and wire for DC and AC wire runs, install and wire inverter systems and energy monitoring equipment. They will work with permitting offices and electrical inspectors and will be responsible for completing electrical work in a Code-compliant manner.
