The Technician Apprentice is responsible for supporting various areas of activity engaged in by field personnel onsite at client locations. To maintain, repair, troubleshoot and install manufacturing equipment in a plant environment. Qualifications BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: in a safe and efficient manner demonstrating the skills and tequnique required for the job function. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS • Installs and repairs electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical and electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment, following electrical code, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints, and other specifications, using hand tools, power tools, and electrical and electronic test equipment: Installs power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment, such as robots, conveyors, and programmable controllers, following electrical code and blueprints, using hand tools and voltage tester. • Connects power supply wires to machines and equipment, and connects cables and wires between machines and equipment, following manuals, schematic diagrams, and blueprints, using hand tools and test equipment. • Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus, such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures, using test equipment, and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables, using hand tools. • Tests malfunctioning machinery, using test equipment, and discusses malfunction with other maintenance workers, such as MACHINE REPAIRER, MAINTENANCE and TOOL MAKER, MAINTENANCE, to diagnose malfunction. • Replaces faulty electrical components of machine, such as relays, switches, and motors, and positions sensing devices, using hand tools. • Diagnoses and repairs or replaces faulty electronic components, such as printed circuit boards. • May diagnose and replace faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of machines and equipment. • May be designated according to equipment repaired as Circuit-Breaker Mechanic; Electrician, Crane Maintenance; Electrician, Rectifier Maintenance; Salvage Repairer I; Time Clock Repairer; Transformer-Coil Winder; or according to work location as Electrician, Machine Shop; Electrician, Refinery; Underground Repairer. • May be required to hold electrician's license. • Will work the required hours of the line including overtime hours • Responsible for other duties as assigned by the Supervisor. ADDITIONAL JOB REQUIREMENTS • Must be able to troubleshoot and repair advanced automated systems. • Must be able to edit Allen Bradley, Automation Direct and Siemens PLC Programs. • Fanuc Robotics programming and troubleshooting experience is a plus. RELATIONSHIPS Communicate and work cooperatively with Operation and Maintenance. SUPERVISION Works under the general supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor. SKILLS/ABILITIES REQUIRED 1. Reading, writing, and arithmetic. 2. Must have good Communication skills, have a team player approach, be goal focused, a self-starter, be highly motivated, and resourceful. 3. General working knowledge of computer and Microsoft Excel software. EDUCATION/TRAINING/CERTIFICATION/LICENSE REQUIRED Minimum - High School Diploma and/or three (3) to five (5) years related work experience operating manufacturing equipment. The Controls Electrician is responsible for installing controls electrical components in Building Automation Systems (BAS). As the primary electrician on projects, they regularly read and understand control prints and know how to execute work without guidance. This position requires experience in laying out entire job wiring from networks to device wiring, and they collaborate regularly with team members and subcontractors. Understand devices and how to wire different manufacturers and types of controllers. Must be able to read and understand blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams as well as read and interpret equipment submittals. Advanced electrical knowledge and ability to work on high- and low-voltage equipment. Able to do the following: Understand how to terminate valves and other devices. Assess, troubleshoot, and fix electrical problems. Complete wiring and setup of VFDs. Successfully set up and research complex control devices. Troubleshoot and repair HVAC-related electrical motors. Test motors for amperage and voltage. Install, repair, and maintain temperature control devices. Conduct tests on existing installations and electrical components to determine faults and make necessary repairs. BASIC REQUIREMENTS High school diploma or equivalent required. Apprentice Electrician or Journeyman. Five (5) years experience in the electrical field. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ABILITIES Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen. Valid Drivers License with no major traffic violations, suspensions, or DUIs in the previous 5 years Ability and willingness to work overtime, including holidays and weekends if needed Ability to follow safety guidelines, including working with heights and in tight working conditions. Ability to operate power and hand tools safely. This position requires working in diverse conditions, including but not limited to mechanical equipment rooms, with exposure to noisy operating equipment, extreme weather conditions, precarious places, and the risk of electrical shock (high voltage).
